The sequence of Round 9 (15-20-8) was the slowest one of the competition, at least according to the scores of Airspeed Odyssey and Perris Fury. Odyssey's 18-pointer was the highscore for the round, and the US national team had to accept another score below 20 points.
Once again, one reason for the lower scores was very obvious in this round. The video of Perris Fury is the only one of the three videos that has the jump plane, in Fury's case the Twinotter, still in the frame when the exit formation is complete.
The Perris team has a significantly faster first Cat of Clock 15 (Cat - Cat), compared to Airspeed and Evolution. The two teams that exited from the Pilatus Porter used a modified Meeker to build the first Cat. This is not unusual at all. Perris Fury is using the same exit technique in this round.
However, the necessary moves and grip maneuvers to complete the first Cat take only a fraction of a second for Fury from the Twinotter. Airspeed Odyssey and Evolution both have to wait a little bit longer with the transition from the exit formation to the Cat.
The Canadian team lost another three points in this round. Evolution completed 17 points in time, and only 14 points were posted on the scoreboard. Perris Fury completed 17 points in time, as well, and received 16 scoring points for the records. The NSL-TV judges have the next opportunity to look for the infringement.
This is also the round where Airspeed Odyssey had the team's only point deduction of the whole meet. One more reason to take a closer look at the new video.
