News Article Did you know that Airspeed's 16-way line-up is a re-union of former and current celebrities and VIP's?
posted: Oct 27th, 2006 The 4-way and 8-way events of the USPA Nationals 2006 were already completed Thursday morning. However, the event also includes a 10-way and a 16-way Formation Skydiving competition. A Russian line-up won the 10-way event as a guest team, and the gold medals were taken by a Perris team. The line-up was a combination of Perris Fury and members of other 4-way line-ups and individuals, guided by Dan BC: Joshua Hall, Christine Frikken, Steve Salamon, Michael Anderson, Piya Navanugraha, Dan BC, Christopher Farina, Bill Morrison, Kai Wolf, Billy Andrews. Fury's videographer Karen Lewis filmed the... (more)
News Article Did you know that three Arizona Divewerkz members add 8-way gold medals to the collection?
posted: Oct 26th, 2006 The field of teams in the 8-way competition of the Intermediate Class is mostly made up of pickup teams, as well. Only Perris 8-Track was apparently organized and trained before competing in Eloy. Blovi-8 consisted of Byron Deficit Disorder team members (4-way AA/Intermediate Class) and CaliCo (AAA/Advanced Class). The team had not made any jumps together, but had agreed a week before the event to compete together in 8-way. Northwest Skydiving League director Harry Waller competed in this line-up. Arizona Old Works took the top of the leaderboard in round one and remained there until the... (more)
News Article Did you know that there is still a slight chance for the 4-way specialists in 8-way?
posted: Oct 26th, 2006 The 8-way competition of the USPA Nationals 2006 is almost over, as well. Two teams in the Open Class still have to make their 10th round, as well as the whole field of Intermediate Class teams. The positions in the Open Class competition are set, with Arizona Airspeed, Golden Nuggets and Paraclete XP in the medal positions. Lock It Up still has a slight chance to push Paraclete XP off the bronze medal slot. It took the Paraclete line-up with several former 8-way world champions longer than expected to climb back up the leaderboard after the 0-pointer in round three. The Mass Defiance/Gravity/Onyx... News Article Did you know that the pickup teams consist of high-caliber 4-way competitors?
posted: Oct 25th, 2006 The other 8-way teams are line-ups that were recruited on competition site, the "pickup teams". One of these pickup teams will most likely end up with a set of silver medals. However, it would be no new situation for the team members of Golden Nuggets to get up on the podium at USPA Nationals. The team name already indicates that the members of the Golden Knights Black 4-way team are a world class foundation for this line-up. In addition, the Army team's alternate, Sean Sweeney, gets his opportunity to be a part of the competition in Eloy. He was a member of the 4-way line-up until this was... (more)
News Article Did you know that Perris Fury members are leading three different 8-way line-ups in Eloy?
posted: Oct 25th, 2006 There are a few other 8-way teams that were not just put together on competition site. Christy Frikken, Perris Fury's Outside Center, explained to the NSL News that there are three trained 8-way teams from Perris. They have been a part of Fury's 2006 project. In fact, the Perris Fury members were not able to compete at some of the Southwest Skydiving League events since they took care of their player coach jobs with other 4-way teams, as well. Fury members recruited, organized and trained with these three 8-way teams. (more)
News Article Did you know that many former world champions compete in the 8-way event?
posted: Oct 24th, 2006 The 8-way competition has started in Eloy. The field is naturally much smaller than it was in 4-way. The 8-way competition at the USPA Nationals is mostly a fun event where 4-way competitors usually form 8-way line-ups on site. There are obviously exceptions. Arizona Airspeed is a very well trained 8-way team, as the world knows. The 2006 season was an 8-way year for Airspeed since the team had to represent the USA at the World Meet 2006 in Germany. There was not much time for 4-way training in the Airspeed quarters this year, as the results of the 4-way competition show. (more)
