News Article Did you know that Gary Smith stepped onto the Malevsky Stage to receive the fourth gold medal?
posted: Jul 10th, 2005 Gary Smith is the Outside Center of DeLand Fire. He won the bronze medal with the South African 4-way team Equanimity in 1997, moved to the USA and formed DeLand Majik in 2001. Majik won the 4-way gold medals at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving in Croatia 2004. DeLand Majik with Gary Smith won the Malevsky Cup in 2002, 2003 and 2004. His new team, DeLand Fire, was formed at the end of 2004 and left the rest of the 4-way field in the dust at the Malevsky Cup 2005. It was the fourth time for Gary Smith that he climbed up onto the Malevsky stage to receive the gold medals and the check.... (more)

posted: Jul 9th, 2005 The 8-way competition was completed Wednesday night, and the scores and meet videos were posted shortly after the conclusion of the competition. France and Arizona Airspeed could not have made it any more exciting for the 8-way fans on site and on the internet. Round ten was like a jump-off between these two teams. How did it get to that situation? The 8-way race between France and Airspeed was a 1-point affair from the beginning to the end. None of the two best 8-way teams in the world was able to steal more than one point in any round except the second one. Both teams had three highscores... (more)
News Article Did you know that the Fat 4-way Lady might have sung the Fire song already today?
posted: Jul 6th, 2005 The scores of round six of the 4-way Open Class competition at the Malevsky Cup 2005 settled the four US teams in the first four top positions. However, the US ranking order changed. Fastrax left two points in the judging room after a slow round for the team. Airspeed Velocity lost two points, as well, but still won two points back from Fastrax. Airspeed Odyssey lost one point, too, but did not accept the judging call. The team captain used the new rule that allows a team to have one jump per meet re-judged: 4.11. RejudgementCompetitors may request to have one of their own competition jumps... (more)
News Article Did you know that the best Russian teams battle on two fronts?
posted: Jul 6th, 2005 Joey Jones mentioned earlier in the NSL News interview today that "the Russian battle is awesome on all fronts" and then explained the athletic part of it. There are in fact three Russian contenders for the top position in the country, the Sky Panthers, Extreme.RU and SkyLight Barkli. Extreme.RU is currently two points ahead of the Sky Panthers and eight points ahead of SkyLight Barkli. However, each of the three teams has already posted at least one highscore for a round in this 3-way race and is capable of winning more rounds. News Article Did you know that Joey Jones provided the Malevsky Cup halftime report?
posted: Jul 6th, 2005 Tuesday became a very long day, especially for the judges and the NSL News. The 4-way teams still completed two rounds in the afternoon, and it was halftime for each event. The judges finished their work around 10 pm, and that was also the time when the last scores and videos were uploaded. The schedule for Wednesday gave the 4-way teams an easier start in the morning. The first loads were called to the planes at 10:30 am. The earlier morning was used for the Accuracy competition. News Article Did you know that the NSL-TV Malevsky page stores the meet videos for later viewings?
posted: Jul 5th, 2005 Hopefully, the valued NSL audience has already explored the special page, which is dedicated only to NSL-TV videos coming from Russia. This features was not available when the NSL News visited Russia for the Malevsky Memorial Cup 2005 coverage. Actually, the NSL-TV program does not allow at all to show more than one round of any event. Last year's NSL-TV coverage featured all ten competition jumps of the meet, round by round. However, many of the ten rounds could not be viewed by audiences at distant locations on the globe. There is a time difference of eight hours between the NSL headquarters... (more)
