posted: Feb 14th, 2007 The NSL News story on January 25 announced the separation of California and Arizona, the states that combined for the former Southwest Skydiving League. Skydive Elsinore and Perris Valley Skydiving worked out the California Skydiving League schedule for 2007, which has already been posted for a while. Arizona has now followed up and assigned AZ Divewerkz member Annie Peterson as the official director of the Arizona Skydiving League. Did you know that Canada's team Evolution re-connects with the NSL network this year?
posted: Feb 12th, 2007 It was the NSL 2002 season when teams from Canada joined the network of the National Skydiving League for the first time. Judging veteran Al Altendorfer and 4-way fan Jennifer VanRysdam launched the CanAm Skydiving League with its first meet on July 20, 2002. The Canadian national 4-way by then, Stratosfear, and three other Canadian teams competed at this first CanAm competition. Two more meets in August and September 2002 completed the first CanAm season. Did you know that the NSL-TV camera surprised Mass Defiance in the team room?
posted: Feb 9th, 2007 New England Skydiving League team Mass Defiance made the NSL News last time on January 3. The meet videos of the team's performance at the USPA Nationals 2006 had been added to the NSL-TV coverage of the event. The article included an update of the Mass Defiance plans for the 2007 season and for the New England Skydiving League. The 2007 plans included a winter camp in January 2007 in DeLand with the team's new head coach, Sinapsi PD member Pete Allum. Did you know that the new IPC rules clarify selection, semi-final and final rounds?
posted: Feb 8th, 2007 Wednesday, August 9th of 2006, was a challenging day for IPC's Meet Director Dr. Rainer "Exi" Hoenle, and also for the teams and competitors at the World Meet 2006 in Germany. The weather situation was already frustrating enough, and it did not look like it would get any better soon. The forecast did not offer much hope, and Dr. Hoenle tried to beat the weather whenever there was a slight chance. The situation was not enjoyable for anybody. The Meet Director had to take chances and send the teams even though the weather was critical and re-jumps could be necessary. (more)

Did you know that the NSL website has finally transitioned into 2007?
posted: Feb 7th, 2007 The change of the year came with a delay for the NSL website. NSL webmaster Craig Buxton is a very busy person and has a full-time job at the SkyVenture headquarters in Austin, Texas. He manages the training of wind tunnel instructors all over the world, which is layed out at the company website, Tunnelflight.com. (more)

Did you know that national teams will jump from Pilatus Porter in 2008?
posted: Feb 5th, 2007 The NSL News story on January 29 provided an update after the recent meeting of the International Parachuting Commission (IPC) in Florence, Italy. The dive pool for 4-way and 8-way Formation Skydiving competition remained unchanged, and some parts of the competition rules were updated. The IPC Delegates also approved several bids to host "First Category Events" in 2007 and 2008. The Malevsky Cup 2007 is scheduled for July 2 - 8 and includes only 4-way competition. The FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving 2007 will also be hosted by Russia. The location is the same as for the Malevsky Cup... (more)
