Did you know that Russia extended the lead in round 8? posted: Sep 12th, 2003 It is getting tight for Arizona Airspeed in 8-way. The U.S. 8-way team carries the only remaining hopes of the U.S. delegation to win a gold medal in any of the three Formation Skydiving events. The Golden Knights and Synchronicity are both too far behind to help avoiding a situation that has never happened before. The World Meet in France could become the first one in history where the U.S.A. might not win a gold medal. With the additional point that Russia won in round seven, the lead is now up to four points. And only two rounds are left. Everything is still possible since a lead can slip easier... (more)
Did you know that France is out of the 8-way game? posted: Sep 12th, 2003 It is a hard day for the French to realize that the big goal of winning the gold medals in both events is now out of reach. The 8-way event will have a different winner. And it will be the U.S. team or Russia. While these two teams continued with their exciting race and tied each other for the fourth time, France was one point slower and also lost two more points due to a penalty. It was a close call on an early key and left only 16 points for the scoreboard. One more round of 8-way will be held before the 4-way competition will resume. (more)
Did you know that the Russian 8-way team is still on a roll? posted: Sep 12th, 2003 The 8-way teams completed three rounds on a beautiful day and are done for today. They will enjoy the time off, at least the U.S. team, Russia and half of the French 8-way team. France Maubeuge's 4-way team still has to work the whole afternoon. Did you know that the story of round 10 in 4-way? posted: Sep 11th, 2003 A quick glance at the scoring table says it all. There are highscore marks all over the board in the first-place row, from round two through round ten. And even in round one France Maubeuge would have had the highest score without the centerpoint penalty. The French team competed in a league of their own. There was no competition for them. They are the true world champions. Congratulations for an outstanding performance. Could it have been different at all? The NSL News will follow up later with more feedback from coaches and competitors and a meet evaluation. (more)
Did you know that the story of round 9 in 4-way? posted: Sep 11th, 2003 Only the best eight teams advanced to the semifinals of the World Meet. And round nine did not change anything at all through the first four positions. France, U.S.A., Norway and U.K. all scored 19 points in a relatively slow sequence. Sinapsi PD lost one point and might not qualify for round ten and the finals. The Meet Director considers to use his authority and leave the Italian team in the competition under his discretion. Sinapsi PD is so close to the bronze medal that it might not be fair to eliminate the team after the semifinals. This situation was discussed earlier in the open meeting... (more)
Did you know that the story of round 8 in 4-way? posted: Sep 11th, 2003 The punishment for Norway continued in round eight. The judges did not like it when the center re-gripped or just moved his hands on the grips at the second Piver, while the single flyers went ahead with the key and the break. Two more points were lost, and the Norgies totaled a damage of five points in the last two rounds. Great Britain and Italy are not only back in bronze medal business. Sebastian XL is now tied with the Norgies in third place. Italy is only one single point behind. The Golden Knights tied Italy and U.K. with 18 points for this round. And France played in their own league one... (more)
