Did you know that the majorities of the lineups have changed in the past years? posted: Nov 2nd, 2022 The combined leaderboard of the two 4-way categories that use the same competition draw and the same dive pool, 4-way Open and 4-way Women, did not change much since the NSL News featured it last time, after Round 8, and before the two fast sequences of Rounds 9 and 10. There was the change in the medal positions between France and Qatar that happened in Round 9, as the NSL News reported earlier, while this interesting finish does not relate to the topics of the combined leaderboard.
The same ten teams finished in the Top 10, including NFTO, Nephtys and XPG4. The French national team in 4-way... (more)
Did you know that Norway works on plans to bring back an 8-way team? posted: Nov 1st, 2022 The story of Norway's national team in 4-way Open, Agera, actually began in the later 90's when Carl-Erik Tuv trained and competed with the DeLand Norgies. The same lineup (Lise Aune/Nansen, Pal Kolbenstvedt, Torstein Valen, Carl-Erik Tuv) won three consecutive FAI bronze medals at the world meets in 1999, 2001 and 2003. Then they retired from the intensive schedule of a world-class team.
However, they never really retired, as the scores of this year's national championships were showing. Three of the original members were in the lineup that won the national 4-way title in August, and Carl-Erik... (more)
Did you know that iFLY Dallas passed the total of 1000 ICL points in September? posted: Oct 31st, 2022 The FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving is by far the most relevant competition for any 4-way and 8-way teams, competitors and the audience. It is still only one team in each event that represents a country and cannot be at any other location at the time of the world meet.
4-way and 8-way training and other activities come almost to a standstill across the Formation Skydiving world at the time of the world meet. Teams, competitors and audience pay at least a lot of attention to the event while they continue to do what they do.
The Indoor Cloud League events are a part of the 4-way... (more)
Did you know that NFTO turned silver of Australia 2018 into gold in Eloy? posted: Oct 31st, 2022 Anna Hicks is one of the original NFTO members, when the team was founded in 2015. She was probably already dreaming of the world championship title in 4-way Women when she started training and competing with her previous team in 2013, Bodyflight Isis. Ten years later, she was finally on the top of the world meet podium with NFTO.
British 4-way Women teams have played a major role in this event since it was added to the FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving format in 2001. Three sets of FAI gold medals (2003, 2006, 2008) and silver medals in Menzelinsk 2010 had gone to Great Britain... (more)
Did you know that Arizona Airspeed and Paraclete XP8 together did not give away a single round? posted: Oct 29th, 2022 The top of the 8-way leaderboard looked exactly the same as it did in 4-way Open. The winning team, Paraclete XP8, did not allow any other team to get close. In fact, the 41-point difference to the Qatar Falcons was even larger than the 33 points that Arizona Airspeed was ahead of NMP PCH HayaBusa.
Until the FAI Outdoor World Meet 1999, the first places in 4-way Open and 8-way Open would have been defined as a completed FS Sweep. The U.S. delegations of 1985, 19995 and 1997 accomplished the 1st places in both events. Then the 4-way Women event was added to the FAI/ISC format in 2001, and the... (more)
Did you know that Arizona Airspeed plan to break up everything when they come back for the next team training? posted: Oct 28th, 2022 The expected battle for silver medals in 4-way Open between Belgium, Qatar and France at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2022 was reduced more to a duel relatively early.
NMP PCH HayaBusa, the defending 4-way world champions, came well prepared to Eloy with their new Inside Center Neal Willems and David Grauwels on camera.
HayaBusa were six points ahead of France after Round 8, and they mastered the last two rounds with the fast sequences well enough to maintain the 2nd place by nine points over the Qatar Tigers. The Belgians did not even look up much, as they knew before the meet began that Arizona... (more)
