Male formation skydiving competitors are still dominating the list of NSL Profiles, even though more than enough female competitors have accomplished the same in their careers and have been matching the performance quality of their male fellow competitors. There are too many examples to leave any doubt of gender equality in potential, talent, skills, experiences and accomplishments.

Especially 4-way and 8-way formation skydiving competition offers an environment where even a freefall video would not show the difference between a female and a male performer. Adding more female competitors to the NSL Profiles is only fixing an overdue shortcoming.

Michelle Karamon is a perfect example of a humble and gentle young lady with all qualities that would attract the other gender to be near her. Then she turns into a lioness as soon as the door of the jump plane opens for the 35 or 50 seconds of freefall working time, and she shows the same hunger for scoring points as her male or female team mates. She transitions back to her humble and gentle behavior as soon as she has landed her parachute.

She caught the attention of the NSL News when her first team, Ranch 2nd Generation (R2G), attended the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2016.

She had two team mates, Arizona Airspeed members Joey Marshall and Chris Kuhlmann, who she would spend a lot of time with in her future as formation skydiving competitor. In fact, all three R2G members of 2916 are now (2025) reigning outdoor world champions.

The NSL News followed the R2G progression from A Class competition in 2016 to the last team year in 2019. The last lineup was on the way to challenging all U.S. teams for the top spot at the national indoor and outdoor championships when Arizona Airspeed recruited Joey Marshall and Chris Kuhlmann for their next lineup and the world's dominating top position.in 4-way competition.

Michelle Karamon continued with her R2G team mate of 2019, Jeana Billings who was added to the NSL Profiles this year. Michelle Karamon and Jeana Billings together won three FAI gold medals in 8-way at indoor (2019) and outdoor (2021, 2022) world championships, and they added a 4-way Women gold medal in 2024.

There is no 8-way Women event, which automatically offered slots for female competitors only in mixed-gender lineups. Michelle Karamon and Jeana Billings were recruited for the new XP8 lineup in 2018, and they spent two years with double duties, R2G in 4-way and XP8 in 8-way.

Together they followed the 8-way world-champion path successfully that Eliana Rodriguez started with Arizona Airspeed in Rijeka 2004 and Jennifer Davidson with the Golden Knights in Australia 2018.

Michelle Karamon did not continue with XP8 after winning her two FAI gold medals in 8-way, while Jeana Billings won another one in 2024. Michelle Karamon wanted to focus only on 4-way competition, and XPG4 eventually won their first outdoor world championship title in 4-way Women at Crystal Coast 2024. Michelle Karamon is now preparing the next XPG4 lineup for the next world championship, while Jeana Billings is doing the same with a new XP8 lineup.

Michelle Karamon has gone through all 4-way slots in her competition career except the tail in the rear piece. Most of the time she has been inside center (2014 – 2021). She switched briefly to the point slot after an XPG4 lineup change in 2022 and 2023, then went back to inside center throughout the 2024 season.

She kept it exciting for herself by going back to the front piece with her recent indoor team Tunnel Vision, and also for XPG4’s indoor season. Now she will continue as the inside center with her outdoor team for the year.

Michelle Karamon reads a lot, while she could not define one of her favorite books: "I have read a lot of books that have a lasting impression on me, however, my favorite books are the ones that I can share with my friends and family and connect through the emotions and feelings of the story. I have a little book club with my favorite people."

Skydiving and team training take all of Michelle Karamon's time. She loves 4-way, which consumes all her thoughts and dreams. Any additional time she spends with family and friends, whether it is hiking in Arizona or just hanging out with her dogs: "Having a balanced life and enjoying my loved ones is super important to me and makes me a better team mate, captain, and all around person."
