Did You Know...

... that Out of the Blue is moving closer to the Dynamic Fource numbers?

Out of the Blue at the ISR Grand Prix 2019
posted Dec 27th, 2019 - The NSL News covered the ISR Grand Prix with several updates in the past weeks. The story on December 17th pointed out Falco's impressive performance and mentioned that the Dutch national team in 4-way Open, Out of the Blue, even touched the 23-average level for the first time.

It would be very difficult for both teams to copy the same results at the Belgian Indoor Nationals, a 10-round indoor meet just a few weeks later, and neither Falco nor Out of the Blue were able to match their own record scoring levels of the faster 8-round meet in Roosendaal.

However, both teams did set new team record averages for 10-round meets. They had both posted their previous indoor record averages at the World Challenge, Out of the Blue with 21.9 and Falco with 20.4 in April this year. In fact, both teams first posted their highest averages at the annual even in Roosendaal and then followed up with their highest 10-round averages.

The Dutch national team finished up the first year with the current lineup this month. The NSL News reported on 26 December 2018 that Out of the Blue's former videographer, Bart Daenen, had moved "in front of the camera". The Belgian Indoor Nationals 2018 were the first competition of the new lineup.

Dynamic Fource at the Tomscat Trophy 2010
The 12 months of training and competition have been very successful for Out of the Blue. The Dutch team attended a total of seven meets, two outdoor and five indoor, and consistently increased the scoring and performance level.

The new lineup improved all previous team records, including 10-round indoor and outdoor averages and the 8-round scores at the ISR Grand Prix.

It's the third different Out of the Blue lineup since July 2017 that is now making plans for 2020, after the successful 2019 season, and this year's results are more than promising. Out of the Blue is on the way to become the strongest Dutch 4-way team in the country's Formation Skydiving competition history.

Dynamic Fource, the Dutch national 4-way team between 2007 and 2011, still owns the record numbers for Dutch indoor and outdoor competition.

Dynamic Fource members Erwin van den Braak and Alex Egberink had launched a 4-way project in 2017 with the main goal to lift the performance level in the Netherlands back up to where it was when they were both training and competing, together with former Falco and new Oceanside AtomiX member Paul Hofstee.

The project came to an end in 2018, and Out of the Blue continued without the previous support.

Dynamic Fource exit in DeLand 2010
The targets are still the same, and Out of the Blue has been getting closer to them meet by meet this year. Dynamic Fource have the 20.7 at the FAI World Meet 2010 in the team records, which was posted after only nine rounds, and the competition included a Super Sequence in Round 3. Dynamic Fource boosted their 20.7 average with a 44-pointer and added a 26-pointer for the fast Round 9. Out of the Blue is already on the same scoring level after a closer look at the other sequences.

Dynamic Fource also posted a 28.4 indoor average a few months later at the ISR Grand Prix 2010. This meet was concluded after seven rounds and two very fast sequences. In the other rounds, Dynamic Fource was not far ahead of the current Out of the Blue numbers.

It will be difficult to get to the standing Dutch record numbers of 2010. However, Out of the Blue is consistently moving closer, and each new competition draw could also generate a set of faster sequences that might eventually offer an opportunity to score higher. Out of the Blue has scheduled two indoor meets that are coming up soon, the Wind Games 2020 at the end of January and the FAI Indoor World Cup 2020 in April.

The 2020 season and the second year of the current Out of the Blue lineup could become a Dutch milestone if the team's progression continues. It would be a decade later when Out of the Blue might seriously challenge the Dynamic Fouce numbers, and the world meet takes place once again in Russia. Dynamic Fource posted the 20.7 in Menzelinsk 2010...
