Did You Know...

... that ICL Midwest teams battled in RRR - RR this month?

March competitors at ICL Midwest
posted May 2nd, 2025 - The unofficial indoor season has been concluded with the completion of the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025, while the Indoor Cloud League continues to offer opportunities for competition practice all year long.

Teams and competitors turn to outdoor training and competition to get ready for their national championships and other events. However, indoor training is always a part of formation skydiving competition, at least for training purposes, even throughout the unofficial outdoor season.

One of the main goals of the Indoor Cloud League has always been the introduction of new participants to 4-way and offer an environment that allows a continuous progression through the whole dive pool step by step, after advancing from basic skills training to 4-way performance. The Indoor Cloud League team ICL Midwest has been powered by CSC Constellation XP and the team members for several years, and the events have consistently attracted new participants to the monthly events. New names appeared once again in the March lineups, while CSC Constellation XP and CSC Singularity both submitted scores for the ICL Midwest team, as well.

Indoor Cloud League March 2025: ICL Midwest - All Teams
Paul Webster - Russell Bayuk - Andrew Happick - Natalie Rodriguez - Lem Castro
Last year's 4-way Intermediate Class winner at the USPA National Championship used the winter break to recruit a new lineup, as the NSL News reported on March 8th. The returning members announced recently that the lineup is complete:

"Big news for the 2025 season! We’re shaking things up with a brand-new lineup - and we’re fired up. Paul Webster is stepping into the Tail slot, bringing his sharp instincts from behind the camera to the formation. Lem Castro who has been coaching at our monthly scrambles will be joining as our new point - you've already seen how talented he is! Natalie Rodriguez and Russell Bayuk return as centers. Casey Long is back on video! You saw his work with Constellation at USPA Nationals 2023 - now he’s back! And we’re thrilled to have Andrew Happick coaching us again! New season. New energy. Let’s go."

The previous lineup has been performing AAA Class sequences for the ICL Midwest team on the monthly Indoor Cloud League leaderboards last year, even though they were planning to compete in the AA/Intrermediate Class at the national outdoor championship. This year, they will have to compete in the 4-way Advanced category at the USPA Nationals, after winning the AA/Intermediate gold medals in 2024.

Sally Finley - Russ Bayuk - Danni Lui - Nick Yoder
Midwest Skydiving League director Steve Loufek, SDC Rhythm XP member since 2023, recently announced the MWSL event schedule, after his team competed at the Shamrock Showdown 2025. MWSL teams have the opportunity to collect competition experiences at four events this summer.

SDC Rhythm XP and Skydive Chicago will be hosting the MWSL season opener in June and offer the final competition practice in September before the USPA Nationals in October.

The other two meets will be hosted by Chicagoland Skydiving Center and Skydive Midwest. CSC Constellation XP are home at Chicagoland and will be hosting the competition in August. Steve Loufek also confirmed that

Gorka Amian will manage the event at Skydive Midwest in July. Gorka Amian was a member of SDMW NEXT between 2021 and 2023, the 4-way signature team at Skydive Midwest.

The Indoor Cloud League event in March featured a similar format as in January this year, when several teams had an internal competition for the highscores in the A and RR categories. This time, seven different lineups took on two of the three Rookie Class sequences (RRR/RR). Constellation's outside center Russ Bayuk won the competition with his lineup (Sally Finley, Nick Yoder, Danni Lui), even though they could not outscore CSC Singularity in the RRR Class.
