posted Jun 17th, 2025 - The NSL News mentioned with the update on February 14th that male celebrities in formation skydiving competition still had the vast majority of the NSL Profiles, "even though every year there is a rising number of female competitors who perform on the same level of skills, talent and scores" and that "the NSL News will try to catch up as quickly as possible".

It was a part of the NSL News update that introduced Jeana Billings and her skydiving career to the audience. Michelle Karamon was next a few months later, and Jennifer Davidson is now the third consecutive female celebrity in the NSL News efforts to catch up.

Jeana Billings, Michelle Karamon and Jen Davidson all have something in common that goes beyond the fact that they share their private lives with three male celebrities who also have their NSL Profiles, Kirk Verner since 2019 (Jeana Billings), Niklas Hemlin since 2019 (Michelle Karamon), Matt Davidson since 2025 (Jen Davidson). The same three female formation skydiving competitors have won their FAI gold medals in the mixed-gender environment of 8-way competition, next to their world championship titles in 4-way Women.

Only one female formation skydiving competitor has won FAI gold medals in all three events, 4-way Open, 4-way Women and 8-way, and Jen Davidson was well aware of this very special accomplishment when she provided her profile information. She mentioned Eliana Rodriguez as one of her role models and mentors:

"Sandy Grillet was one of my first skydiving mentors. I started jumping at a small DZ in Iowa, and he did a lot with the local NPSL competitions. He helped me find my first pickup rookie team for one of the meets, and helped me get my application for the Golden Knights ready. Brian Krause, Kirk Verner, Matt Davidson, and of course THE Eliana Rodriguez have had a big impact on my career as well."

Eliana Rodriguez completed her unique horizontal formation skydiving event sweep with the FAI gold medal in 4-way Open for Airspeed Odyssey at the FAI World Championship 2008, after her 4-way Women gold medal with Synchronicity in Spain 2001 and 8-way gold in Rijeka 2004. At the latest in Maubeuge 2008 it became obvious that female competitors can accomplish the same as their male fellows, which other women had already shown even earlier. Natasha Montgomery was actually the first female formation skydiving competitor who delivered the same message with DeLand Fire in Gera 2006. She became the first female world champion in 4-way Open.

Jeana Billings, Michelle Karamon and Jen Davidson would have to join 4-way Open Class teams to make the same statement that Eliana Rodriguez made between 2001 and 2008. In fact, Eliana Rodriguez was only three points away from even defending her 4-way Open Class gold medal successfully with Airspeed Odyssey two years later in Menzelinsk 2010.

The French national 4-way Open Class team (Jeremie Rollett, Julien Degen, Guillaume and Mathieu Bernier, with Olivier Henaff on camera) and Airspeed Odyssey (Eliana Rodriguez, Craig Girard, Mark Kirkby, with Steve Nowak on camera) were tied after Round 9, and only an outstanding performance of the French team in Round 10 kept Eliana Rodriguez from winning her next 4-way Open Class gold medal.

Eliana Rodriguez has been married to formation skydiving competition celebrity Craig Girard for several years. Jeana Billings, Michelle Karamon and Jen Davidson could join forces with their respective partners and then copy Eliana Rodriguez' unique accomplishment. Kirk Verner (1995/1997) and Niklas Hemlin (2012/2022/2024) are already 4-way Open Class world champions, and Matt Davidson was in the Arizona Airspeed 4-way lineup who won the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2019.
