News Article Did you know that the chief judge now explains the Block 12 affair from a different angle?
posted: Sep 21st, 2004 The coverage of the whole Block 12 affair is almost complete. The facts of the story are known, the French view was explained by Jerome David, while Shannon Pilcher gave insights from the Majik position. The US team clarified the situation yesterday with a strong statement in round seven when the DeLand team increased the lead over France from two to six points. The penalty situation of round five is not in Majik's way to the gold medal. However, the NSL News planned a comprehensive coverage of the Block 12 affair, and the view of the judges was still missing. Chief Judge Klaus Wellens took the... (more)
News Article Did you know that Majik's round five is now on NSL-TV?
posted: Sep 20th, 2004 Shannon Pilcher, alternate for DeLand Majik, provided the NSL News with Majik's perspective of the Block 12 affair. The NSL News did not want to distract any of the active team members from their focus on the competition. Former Genesis and PD Blue member Pilcher has been Majik's alternate for two years and is a popular coach. He works with several teams in Croatia, while Majik competes. Pilcher was watching the last jumps of round five on the large screen outside together with Lise Aune, Norwegian national coach and former member of the DeLand Norgies. All Majik members were watching the jumps... (more)
News Article Did you know that French national coach Jerome David tried to avoid the problem ahead of time?
posted: Sep 20th, 2004 French national coach and team manager Jerome David provided the NSL News with the first feedback on the Block 12 affair Sunday evening. David manages the whole French Formation Skydiving delegation, including the 8-way team, the 4-way Open team and the 4-way team of the Women's class. However, he is technically involved as a coach only with the 8-way team and the female team. France Maubeuge is self sufficient and makes any technical decisions independantly. David explained to the NSL News that he had made his own effort to fix the Block 12 issue ahead of time. Approximately two months ago... (more)
News Article Did you know that Block 12 continues to make history as a troublemaker?
posted: Sep 20th, 2004 The valued NSL audience may have wondered why there has not been any commentary of round five and Sunday's summary in the 4-way Open event yet. The NSL News has ignored the issue and delayed the publication on purpose. The emotions were very high at the end of the day and after the viewing and scoring of France Maubeuge and DeLand Majik. The NSL News decided to walk away, turn off the computer and let everybody have a good night sleep before taking on a new round of Block 12 (Zipper - Star) discussion. In fact, the NSL News considered complete silence for a little while since the majority of... (more)

News Article Did you know that France took the lead in 8-way?
posted: Sep 19th, 2004 Round one of the 8-way competition brought a quite surprising picture. Neither Russia nor USA ended up on top of the field. The new French team took the lead with a 21-pointer as the highest score for this opening round. While USA Airspeed kept up with the French pace and ended up only shortly behind with 20 points, the defending world champions from Russia finished far behind after 50 seconds of working time. Russia's 8-way team went significantly slower throughout the whole jump. Airspeed captain Craig Girard mentioned that the Russian engineering did not seem to be very efficient, and it... (more)
