Did you know that the 4-way competition will dominate the USPA Championship once again? posted: Oct 2nd, 2004 The USPA Championship 2004 has already begun. The competitors of the artistic events have already determined some of their new US champions. Four teams competed in Skysurfing, five teams in Freestyle, a total of 17 teams currently competes for the Freestyle medals in two classes.
These events are the ouverture to the main event of the USPA Championships, the Formation Skydiving competition in 4-way, 8-way and 16-way. Did you know that the US Formation Skydiving delegation celebrates a golden comeback? posted: Sep 24th, 2004 It was a good idea to finish as many events as possible on Thursday. The weather does not promise any more skydiving activities, and the locals confirm that the fall has arrived in Croatia. The clouds hang low, rain is in the forecast, the skydiving season is over, and so is the world meet.
However, the 8-way teams are still on a stand-by status Friday morning and had to wait with their celebration, while the 4-way teams smoothly transitioned from competition to party mode last night. In fact, the party at the hotel, where all the teams and competitors have been accommodated, lasted all night.... (more)
Did you know that it is all Majik in Croatia? posted: Sep 23rd, 2004 The scores are posted, the jumps can be watched on video, the 4-way events have been completed. DeLand Majik is the new world champion after finishing the tenth round at darkness. France took the second place, and Russia defended the third place against Italy. USA took the gold medal in the Women's event, as well. France placed second, and Russia took the bronze medal. The 8-way teams still have to make one more round tomorrow. Did you know that the NSL News interviewed Sally Hathaway before the last round of the meet? posted: Sep 23rd, 2004 The teams are still on a weather hold at 2:00 p.m. in Croatia. The NSL News used the opportunity for an interview with Synchronicity's point, Sally Hathaway, who has been a member of the female US 4-way teams since 2001. Synchronicity is the leader of the competition after nine rounds.
NSL News: Sally, you are very close to your second gold medal. Can anybody still catch Synchronicity?
Sally Hathaway: Sure, the French girls. They are only three points behind. They are skydiving very well.

Did you know that there have been several smaller battles within the meet? posted: Sep 23rd, 2004 The event management moved very quickly when the weather allowed jumping for a short time in the later afternoon on Wednesday. The 4-way Open Class teams had to wait for a while before the first call to the plane came. Round eight would be an important round not only for the medal contenders. Only the best ten teams of the 21-team field would make the cut and move on into the quarterfinals of round nine.
On the other hand, the competition for the last cut position in 10th place was not really close. Teams had already settled in their slots throughout the earlier rounds. Spain's team Empuriabrava... (more)
