News Article Did you know that Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed are big sports fans?
posted: Nov 27th, 2012 It was a very long travel day for the NSL News to move from DeLand, Florida, to Dubai, United Arabian Emirates. However, this update comes live from Dubai, and at least it brings across the first impressions of an event magnitude that the skydiving world has not seen yet. The arrival at the Dubai International Airport was well planned by the host, and each travel group had a guide who kindly helped everybody to get to the hotels. NSL News Khalid spoke fluently English and explained that Dubai was the first place in the Arabian world that made an effort to teach English as the second language... (more)
News Article Did you know that the Fun Flag has successfully made the trip to Dubai?
posted: Nov 26th, 2012 The complete competition draw has now been added to the leaderboard of the ISR Grand Prix 2012. It also gives a better impression of the value of Thunder's scores. There was only one "weak" round, as Center Outside Paul Hofstee explained. Thunder did not like their own Round 3, and the first video below begins with this one of three Thunder sequences. However, Round 4 and 5 compensated for Round 3, and the second video features the Thunder highlight and 33-pointer highscore of the meet in Round 7. Thunder had to deal with a health situation, as one of the team members was sick and decided... (more)
News Article Did you know that 48 teams competed at the ISR Grand Prix 2012?
posted: Nov 25th, 2012 It is difficult for other events to catch any attention at the moment, as the focus of the world's skydiving community is zooming in more and more on the Mondial 2012. The ISR Grand Prix 2012 had record participation this weekend and deserves an update. 48 teams beat the previous record number of 41 significantly, and there was great competition in each category, except in the AAA Class. Thunder won with a 25.5 average after the eight meet rounds, and no other AAA Class team could keep up. Thunder would much rather be in Dubai right now and take on the world's best 4way teams in an outdoor... (more)
News Article Did you know that Arizona Airspeed has an exciting layover in Dubai?
posted: Nov 24th, 2012 The current results of the polls for the Formation Skydiving competition events at the Mondial 2012 indicate no sweep for any nation this time. The US delegation would come the closest with three gold medals, Arizona Airspeed in 4way Open, Golden Knights in 4way Women and 8way. France would be left with only one gold medal in VFS 4way. Airspeed is only slightly ahead of NMP-PCH Hayabusa in the polls. The audience doesn't seem to see a chance for France to win gold medals in 4way and 8way with the same lineup, as the 8way team is also far behind the Golden Knights. The three French teams in the... News Article Did you know that there is no clear gold medal favorite for Dubai 2012 in any event?
posted: Nov 23rd, 2012 The start of the Mondial 2012 in Dubai is less than a week away, and it is about time to zoom in even more on the most exciting competition that Formation Skydiving competition may have experienced in the history of the sport. It is a fact that the event will have record participation. However, there is more to it than only the number of teams who travel to Dubai. The NSL News looks mostly at the athletic part of Formation Skydiving competition, which seems to offer more than ever before. Each of the four FS events (4way Open - 4way Women - VFS 4way - 8way) promises most exciting competition,... (more)
News Article Did you know that Carolina Turbo XP is the next US shooting star in 4way competition?
posted: Nov 22nd, 2012 The USPA Nationals 2012 always feature many different internal battles within the meet and on the same leaderboard, and only a few of them get the deserved attention. One of those battles took place right behind the teams who have received their attention earlier. It included another shooting star in US 4way competition that the NSL News has followed since the beginning of the 2009 season when the team later won the gold medals in the AA/Intermediate Class at the USPA Nationals 2009. VTSD was the team name by then, and it changed to Carolina Turbo XP for the 2010 season. The race between... (more)
