Did you know that the French 8way team went swamping in DeLand? posted: Nov 15th, 2012 The last training camp of the French delegation in DeLand overlaps for a few days with the Kaleidoscope Dives of SkyQuest Florida 2012. Both groups are not very lucky with the weather at the moment.
There was not much 8way training on Wednesday, and the first bigway activities of SkyQuest 2012 on Thursday have been only dirtdives and preparations on the ground so far. Aerodyne Maubeuge or any other teams have been looking at foggy skies, as well.
The French 8way team's bad luck began on Tuesday when a brandnew parachute was lost in the swamps after a cutaway. The French competitors did not... (more)
Did you know that Paraclete XP's Kirk Verner and John D'Annunzio focus even more on 8way? posted: Nov 14th, 2012 The three LeMay brothers (Martin, Vincent, Benoit) of the Canadian national 4way team Evolution were not the only 4way competitors who attended the USPA Nationals 2012 in two different 4way events, traditional 4way and VFS 4way.
Former Arizona Airspeed videographer Will Pesek did the same and turned out to be even more successful in his double-duty challenge. Paraclete XP4 and XP8 members Kirk Verner and John D'Annunzio gave their 4way team mate great credit for his performance in traditional 4way in a live NSL Talk after the end of the 8way competition. XP4 finished in 5th place with a 19.0... (more)
Did you know that 120way world records and broken golf clubs make for interesting skydiving activities? posted: Nov 13th, 2012 Very different activities were going on in DeLand at the beginning of this week.
Several teams continued with their training camps having the Mondial 2012 in their minds. The French national 8way team Aerodyne Maubeuge started their training, while NMP-PCH Hayabusa took a break. Their 4way opponents from France are done with this event and have switched to 8way.
Hayabusa finished the recent part of the last training camp with an excursion into freeflying. The NSL News could not convert the original video footage into a format that would work, and YouTube did not handle the same footage much... (more)
Did you know that 21.9 seems to be an ominous number for the best 8way teams? posted: Nov 12th, 2012 It is quite amazing how the best 8way teams in the world have been shying away from the 22.0 average benchmark this year.
Of course, no team is planning to do that, however, it seems so difficult to get to the 22.0 average level for many reasons.
The Golden Knights finished two times one point short of 220 points in a 10-round meet. The meet average at the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship 2012 was 21.9 for the US Army's 8way lineup.
Sky Panthers Barkli from Russia posted a 19.1 average at the same event, and the NSL News mentioned earlier that both teams finished with exactly the same... (more)
Did you know that Lize won the November indoor meet in the Czech Republic? posted: Nov 12th, 2012 The 12 teams in November and the December meet included two VFS 4way teams who competed in a Rookie Class that Jan Klapka laid out for the beginners in this category. The scores for the Czech VFS 4way competition can be found at the VFS part of the NSL website.
The most recent Czech indoor leaderboard does not include the national team and 4way champion Lize, which is not a surprise. The Czech national team was busy competing in Dubai when the indoor league meet of December took place in Prague.
Lize had attended and won the indoor competition in November. This gave the Bad Boyz the opportunity... (more)
Did you know that DNR re-wrote the US "amateur" story at the USPA Nationals 2012? posted: Nov 11th, 2012 The NSL News goes back to the USPA Nationals 2012 and another highlight of this year's competition at Skydive Arizona.
The unofficial US amateur record average has been a topic ever since Mass Defiance posted the famous 19.3 average at the USPA Nationals 2007. It is history now, after DNR (James "Malibu" Klinge, Ben Liston, Brian Stephens, Steve Johnson, with Pat Walker on camera) shattered it a few weeks ago in Eloy with a 20.7 average.
Several other teams have tried in the past to improve the old Mass Defiance record average, including team members James "Malibu" Klinge and Steve Johnson... (more)
