Did you know that the Russian Nationals 2011 will most likely feature a very exciting race? posted: Sep 12th, 2011 A very interesting competition begins tomorrow in Russia. The national championship brings together the four top teams in the Open Class for the first time this year, plus the national team in the female 4way category, Illusions.
SportLoto, the new lineup that the NSL News had introduced earlier this year, won the first outdoor meet of the 2011 season in Russia over Gradient Alpha after a jump-off round. However, Sportloto was not eligible for the World Cup 2011 where Sky Panthers Barkli and Gradient Alpha took the 4th and 5th places.

Did you know that teams and competitors are facing a vicious circle? posted: Sep 11th, 2011 The August issue of the Blue Skies Mag (#23) featured the next piece of the "Turning Points" series. It was the 7th contribution from the Formation Skydiving competition community by the NSL News and for the comprehensive Blue Skies Mag coverage of the whole skydiving world.
The article in the June issue had promoted recreational 4way competition and pointed out that it does not always have to be so serious. The NSL News then covered the World Cup 2011 extensively and live from the event site. A different perspective will soon follow in the Blue Skies Mag.

Did you know that iFLY Orlando's monthly FSL Tunnel Kicker keeps growing? posted: Sep 10th, 2011 The NSL News reported on 26 August 2011 that iFLY Orlando hosted the second "FSL Tunnel Kicker", a promotional event for the FSL community. The first event was held in July, followed by the reported one in August.
The September Kicker took place last Tuesday and hosted once again a growing crowd. Word has spread now in Florida that iFLY Orlando is again supporting the Florida Skydiving League, just as it used to be when the windtunnel was built in 1998. That was one year after the Florida Skydiving League was launched, and both parties worked closely together.

Did you know that Petra van Overveld also won the German 8way title with EADS? posted: Sep 9th, 2011 The World Cup 2011 videos of Round 6 bring the attention back to the 8way competition, and the extended leaderboard once again includes the new point deductions.
It was the easiest round for teams and judges so far since only the Russian Sky Panthers Barkli lost one point due to an incomplete formation. It could have been different though, as the judges were apparently more lenient with the interpretation of "grip visibility" this time. Especially several of the inside grips at Block 12 (Lego - Eye), the Donuts and Cats were simply not visible due to the camera angle. There is no doubt that... (more)
Did you know that the Mideast Skydiving League welcomed a new Rookie Class team? posted: Sep 8th, 2011 The August meet of the Mideast Skydiving League at Start Skydiving introduced a new 4-way collegiate team that competed in the Rookie Class for the first time. A team of the University of Cincinnati had disbanded earlier after the graduation of one of its members. Two students were left looking for a collegiate team.
Two other students luckily happened to be at Start Skydiving, one from the University of Indiana-Bloomington and one from the University of Denver. They were willing to join forces, and the new team was formed.

Did you know that the MidAtlantic Rookies had a true scramble at Cross Keys last weekend? posted: Sep 7th, 2011 Freefall Adventures and MidAtlantic Skydiving League joined forces for the second time this year to offer Rookie Class competitors the opportunity to learn more about 4way and make some fun skydives at Cross Keys. Once again, host Freefall Adventures provided free slots for coaches and videographers at the September meet last weekend.
MASL Director Dennis Miller remembered that the MASL community had learned at the last MASL Scrambles in June that tunnel experience can be just as valuable as jump numbers. This experience lead to the conclusion that the MASL pool of participants was fairly even... (more)
