Did you know that NSL-TV features Round 7 of the two top teams in 8way? posted: Aug 6th, 2011 The new video clip features the complete Round 7 of the two top teams in 8way, Aerodyne Maubeuge and Golden Knights. The video includes the competition jumps which are embedded at the proper spot, right after the teams boarded the plane and took off. Then it shows the landings and the first reactions, plus the live judging on DZ-TV while the crowd and the teams are watching.
The Golden Knights obviously lost the 4-point lead in Round 7, but the damage of the day was not even complete yet. Aerodyne Maubeuge won another point in Round 8 and took the lead for the first time. It has been a French... (more)
Did you know that the 8way competition has a fresh start in Round 8? posted: Aug 5th, 2011 The NSL News was prepared to cover a world record jump in 8way from all angles. The preview of Round 7 was posted earlier, with the comments by coaches and competitors.
The NSL-TV camera picked it back up when the first announcements came for the Golden Knights and Aerodyne Maubeuge. Both teams met in their headquarters at Tent City to begin with their final preparations. Getting dressed, taking care of babies and moms, getting the last instructions, some warmup exercises took place before both teams headed to the hangar for creeping and dirtdives.
Both teams were as well prepared as usual... (more)
Did you know that a new 8way world record is coming up? posted: Aug 5th, 2011 It still is a horse race in 8way, even though the Golden Knights have created a 4-point lead over Aerodyne Maubeuge. There is a simple reason why 8way is still wide open. A potential world record sequence is coming up in Round 7, and the scores could change everything.
Of course, the NSL News was interested to find out what the team members and coaches would think about it. They all agreed on one thing: the sequence of Round 7 has the potential to produce a new 8way world record for a single round. In fact, French 8way coach Erwan Pouliquen is convinced that one of the three 8way powerhouses... (more)
Did you know that Martin Mall caught a playing card with his mouth under open parachute? posted: Aug 5th, 2011 Friday morning began with a weather hold. Fog and clouds seemed to promise another late start or not much skydiving at all. Fortunately, this changed quite quickly. The first boarding call came at around 11 am, and the planes have taken off with 4way and 8way teams.
It is difficult for the meet management to use the shaky weather situation efficiently since several teams have competitors in both events, 4way and 8way Formation Skydiving. Round 5 in 8way will be completed first as four teams are behind. The competition will continue with 8way and 4way teams that are not involved in 8way at the... (more)
Did you know that four teams scored 20 points or higher in Round 6? posted: Aug 4th, 2011 There were only four teams in Round 6 with scores of 20 points or higher. Of course, Aerodyne Aerokart and NMP-PCH Hayabusa were two of them, both with 25-pointers. The French national team maintained the 3-point lead.
The other two teams posted 20-pointers, Gradient Alpha in the Open Class and Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders in the female 4way category. The NSL News mentioned earlier that the French ladies were only three points behind the bronze medal position in the Open Class after Round 6.
Stefan Brueck once again provided the NSL News with the videos of those four jumps in Round 6, which... (more)
Did you know that UK delegation launched a "Free the Fun Flag" campaign? posted: Aug 4th, 2011 It is about time for a Fun Flag update. The NSL News has been very patient so far, even though the third day of the competition has gone by without any sighting of the Fun Flag, neither in the spectator area nor in Tent City. Sevel teams and competitors have been highly aware of the Fun Flag situation and were looking forward to the event, like a member of the UK delegation prior to the event:
"I only recently heard about the Fun Flag, but I will make sure that the UK challenges for it. It takes a bit of subtlety to get it I reckon, but anyone who knows me knows that “subtlety” is my middle... (more)
