Did you know that the Fun Flag is flying - somewhere? posted: Aug 3rd, 2011 It is very unusual that the NSL News audience is off the pace at the polls. The majority of the 8way fans expects the French Aerodyne Maubeuge lineup to win the World Cup 2011. Even French team captain Clement Martin St. Leon, triple world champion of 2006, 2008 and 2010, was not so sure about that, as the NSL News explained yesterday.
The Golden Knights are up by two points after Round 2, and the scores for Round 3 will be posted very soon. Golden Knights team captain Brian "BK" Krause said that he is glad that his 4way lineup decided to focus only on 8way in Germany this week. He remembered... (more)
Did you know that French national coach Jeremie Rollett is unhappy about the Arizona Airspeed situation? posted: Aug 3rd, 2011 Breakfast in the hotel on Wednesday morning included thunder and lightning. The weather was expected to give the meet a break today, but it will most likely be only half a day of ground work. There is a very good chance that jumping will resume in the afternoon.
The competition is planned to continue in both events, 4way and 8way. The 8way teams will be first, and the 4way teams will follow 1.5 hours later, only with the teams who have no overlapping 8way duties. Not everybody likes this plan. Dutch head coach Gary Smith explained that this strategy takes away from the feeling of a real competition:

Did you know that Aerodyne Maubeuge recovered well in Round 2? posted: Aug 2nd, 2011 The 8way scores of Round 2 gave the French headquarters hope that the Golden Knights might not run away easily. It was a challenge to recover from a meet opener that gave the US Army team all the confidence in the world.
Team captain Brian "BK" Krause confirmed that it was the best start into a competition that he could remember. His team came out of the gates as if it was Round 10 of a high profile competition.
On the other side, the French side, team captain Clement Martin St. Leon remembered that it was completely different last year at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010.... (more)
Did you know that NSL-TV features Round 1 in 8way? posted: Aug 2nd, 2011 It's time for the first 8way videos. The NSL News reported a perfect start for the Golden Knights earlier, and the on-line audience now has opportunity to see the excellent performance on NSL-TV.
France seemed to be hopelessly behind after one round when a 20-pointer appeared on the official scoreboard. It only seemed to be such a big difference for several reasons. The French camera did not capture one complete formation in the middle of the working time, and Stephane Mistrot Dit Pachet presented the footage of his second camera to the judges. The 20-pointer turned into a 21-pointer, which... (more)
Did you know that the Golden Knights had a perfect 8way start? posted: Aug 2nd, 2011 The Golden Knights had a beautiful meet opener in 8way and posted a 23-pointer to begin with, while the French 8way team is waiting for the boarding call to make the first 8way jump. This is caused by the fact that the 4way teams first completed Round 4 before the double-event competitors would get their call for the other event.
There are quite a few 8way teams with 4way competitors in the lineup, including three of the expected medal contenders, France, Russia and Germany. Yes, the German 8way team may have a chance to threaten the Sky Panthers Barkli 8way lineup if they perform as they have... (more)
Did you know that NSL-TV shows Illusions highscore in Round 2? posted: Aug 2nd, 2011 It is very difficult to keep up with the progression of the competition at the World Cup 2011. The scoring and DZ-TV system and the network is not working as efficiently as the NSL News is used to with CamScore. The host is getting the teams in the air quickly and takes full advantage of the good weather, which is the right thing to do. The judges are working quickly too, but public access to the scores is on the slow end so far.
The speed of the meet makes it also even more challenging for the single handed NSL News operation. Getting the scores and uploading them, talking to coaches, experts,... (more)
