News Article Did you know that the French B-Teams have been going neck to neck?
posted: May 15th, 2011 The United Kingdom had the largest delegation of teams at the World Challenge 2011, which was no surprise, of course. The travel distances for the UK teams makes it much easier to attend the event. However, France was not too far behind, at least in the AAA Class. Ten UK teams competed in the category with the complete dive pool, and France was only two teams behind. The French 8-team delegation included Rebootizer Aerial though, who compete officially for Monaco. The French teams were all over the leaderboard and separated into two different categories. The best five teams from France... (more)
News Article Did you know that Black Cat's videographer Vadim Niyazov presents the Shamrock Showdown 2010?
posted: May 14th, 2011 NSL-TV has uploaded several copies of TV shows in the past, which featured selected NSL events. Those productions are not the popular NSL-TV Reality shows, which are mostly available during the live event coverage of the NSL News. They were rather produced for airing on TV channels. The TV show of the NSL Championship 2000 was recently uploaded when the NSL News covered the history of the National Skydiving League. There was an even earlier show that was produced in 1999 and covered the NSL Championship, as well. The video of this show, which was the first one in the NSL history, has not been... (more)
News Article Did you know that Italy adds the Rookie Class to the National Championships 2011?
posted: May 13th, 2011 Only two teams from Italy competed at the World Challenge this year. The 2010 event had four teams involved in the internal Italian race. However, Excidis had a very interesting lineup, and Area 51 came back with the same lineup as in 2010 to go from the 32nd place of 37 teams and a 16.2 average in 2010 to the 26th place of 40 teams this year, with a 17.0 average. Excidis was a lineup that was put together only for the World Challenge. Player coach Marco Arrigo, former Sinapsi member and bronze medalist with Italy's 8-way team Ex3mo in 2008, and Manuela Quarella teamed up for the third consecutive... (more)
News Article Did you know that NSL-TV features Black Majik of 2005 and 2011?
posted: May 12th, 2011 The NSL News story on 1 April 2011 introduced the Bodyflight Black Majik lineup that competed at the World Challenge 2011 in the Rookie Class. This story included a few training sessions of the team that did the Rookie Class sequences upside down flying on their backs. The NSL News mentioned that it was not the first time that Black Majik member Joey Jones brought in his freeflying skills to a 4-way Formation Skydiving competition. He had competed with a different Black Majik at the June meet of the Florida Skydiving League in 2005. The 2005 lineup consisted of Thomas Hughes (Center... (more)
News Article Did you know that the NSL News has followed the female 4-way history since 2000?
posted: May 11th, 2011 The next connection between the NSL News history and current events comes with a story that was posted on the NSL website on 5 May 2000. The female category of 4-way competition was at the very beginnings at that time. The World Championship of Formation Skydiving 1999 in Australia had included the first "Women's Cup" which was attended by four teams. Claire "Sparky" Scott, Sarah Laughton, Sacha Chilion and Kate Stepmens won the first competition with only female 4-way competitors for the United Kingdom, with Brian Vacher on camera. Another "Women's Cup" was scheduled to be a part of the... (more)
News Article Did you know that Georgia Skydiving League teams of 2000 and 2011 have someone in common?
posted: May 10th, 2011 Back to the 2011 reality of the Georgia Skydiving League after the NSL News story on 7 May 2011, which reported the situation at the GSL May meet in 2000. An earlier story this year, on 13 April 2011, introduced two teams from Georgia who prepared for the first meet of the 2011 season. GT Wreckless and GD Techers both represented the Georgia Tech Skydiving Club at the beginning and have continued with their team projects. GSL Manager Greg Lennartz reported after the meet that he was happy to have at least a few scores of the two teams that hung out for the whole weekend. The weather conditions... (more)
