Did you know that a very special NSL Talk group went back to the World Cup 1998? posted: Jul 31st, 2010 It all happened by coincidence. The NSL News invited a new group for the next NSL Talk. Eric Heinsheimer, Lena and Joey Jones accepted it and met with the NSL News on Saturday afternoon.
The group had something very special in common, which was discovered ad hoc during the conversation. The topic was actually the Swedish female 4-way team that the NSL News had introduced earlier. Joey Jones had sent a correction note by e-mail and added that the Swedish female lineup of 1998 was the winner of the very first competition in the new female category.

Did you know that the NSL News discussed the world meet competition with Gary Smith and Bert Hajee? posted: Jul 31st, 2010 It is also time for the first NSL Talk, live from Menzelinsk. The NSL News has set up the camera for upcoming conversations in the middle of the dropzone. This brings some kind of additional live atmosphere to the coverage.
The first guests of the first NSL Talk were Gary Smith and Bert Hajee, coach and alternate of the Dutch national team Dynamic Fource. The conversation began with the logistics and the weather situation.

Did you know that the Fun Flag was flying for the first time in Menzelinsk? posted: Jul 31st, 2010 It is about time for the first Fun Flag update from Menzelinsk in Russia, one day before the teams will begin with Round 1 at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010.
The Belgian team NMP-PCH Hayabusa had the last Fun Flag word at the World Meet 2008 in Maubeuge, France, and took it back home to Belgium. Hayabusa managed to keep possession of the flag after a very lively and exciting World Cup 2009 in Prostejov, Czech Republic.

Did you know that Craig Girard's birthday jump was a 28-way? posted: Jul 30th, 2010 There is still no end of Russia's heatwave in sight. Moscow is even burning at several places, as the high temperatures have initiated fires. The only cool place in Menzelinsk is the freefall, and the NSL News is only reporting the jumps and looking at the videos...
Yesterday's last paragraph mentioned that an international group of 28 competitors was getting ready for Craig Girard's birthday jump. The teams that were finished with training had the opportunity to celebrate with and for the 45-year old Formation Skydiving legend.

Did you know that NSL-TV features Airspeed training on Craig Girard's birthday? posted: Jul 29th, 2010 It was a very hot day in Menzelinsk, Russia, even though the competition at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 has not even begun yet. It was the weather that brought temperatures of up to 40'C (104 F) to the teams, competitors, officials and staff during the day. The conditions were once again perfect for training, not very energizing for office and other ground work.
This area in Russia is not used to such hot weather conditions, and there is not much air conditioning. Tents, trees and buildings help to hide from the sun, cool beverages are crucial - a lot of water throughout... (more)
Did you know that the 8-way teams prepare in different ways for the battle? posted: Jul 29th, 2010 Last weekend's leaderboard was replaced with a new one sooner than usual. The reason is obvious, as the currently listed teams are the ones that will compete at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 in Menzelinsk, Russia. It's an effort to introduce the field to the audience early enough.
The previous leaderboard has neither been removed nor have the teams been forgotten. In fact, new scores from the Virginia Parachute Council have just been added.
There is also one team that is on both leaderboards. Denmark's national team Bodyflight Voluntas attended the national championships... (more)
