Did you know that DeLand won a very important battle yesterday?
posted: May 27th, 2010 It is not a secret in the skydiving world that Skydive DeLand has been dealing with a serious threat to the whole operation for a few years. The City of DeLand decided at the beginning of the affair that the DeLand Municipal Airport, home to Skydive DeLand, needed a control tower for the air traffic. Federal funding was available to a certain amount, and city officials thought that they could not let the opportunity pass to spend some of those tax dollars - no matter whether the airport really needed a tower or not. Did you know that Ben Liston is heading the North East 16/16 Rumble?
posted: May 26th, 2010 On July 31, 2010, Ben Liston will be organizing a 2-group dueling 16-way event (32 participants plus video flyers) at Connecticut Parachutists, Inc. The goal is to draw the best formation skydivers from the North East for a day of challenging sequential skydives and tons of fun. Ben Liston said that this will be a quasi invitational event, meaning that participants will have to fill out a short form to register to ensure the quality. Did you know that national Freestyle champions have formed an NPSL 4-way team?
posted: May 25th, 2010 AAA Class team Evolution Cremona was not the only winner from Italy in one of the four competition classes on last weekend's leaderboard. Fano's home team ASH competed in the AA Class and is still in 1st place with a 10.5 average after all AA Class scores have been posted. Italy's A Class team Saturno 4 finished in 3rd place with a 7.7 average and completed a very strong Italian showing last weekend. Three competition classes have 13 teams each on the leaderboard, seven teams competed in the AAA Class. The AA Class had the closest race on the top of the leaderboard, and NPSL team HTH actually... Did you know that Evolution from Italy is the current AAA Class leader?
posted: May 24th, 2010 Last weekend's first multi-league meet weekend included the first 4-way competition in Italy this year. Livio Piccolo, Point of the Italian national 4-way team Sinapsi, is running the skydiving center in Fano and has been organizing this "Shake Meet" for several years. The scores of three of the five events last weekend are posted at the moment, and the winner of the small competition in Italy, Evolution Cremona, is currently on top of the AAA Class leaderboard. Did you know that the NPSL 2010 coverage begins with a video of fun activities in Baldwin?
posted: May 23rd, 2010 This weekend's leaderboard, the first one with several meets happening at the same time, has the scores of 36 teams so far. The results of the meets in the Mideast and Carolina are still to come. The United Kingdom provided the most scores with a total of 26 teams. The NSL News traveled to Skydive Twin Cities to cover the season opener of the Northern Plains Skydiving League. NPSL Director Sandy Grillet managed once again to get his 4-way community out to play at the 2010 season opener. Did you know that the first multi-event weekend of 2010 is coming up?
posted: May 21st, 2010 The upcoming weekend will feature the first multi-event leaderboard of the 2010 season. Meets are scheduled at five different locations, and the NSL News is on its way to report live on site from the Northern Plains Skydiving League season opener. The Carolina Skydiving League and the Mideast Skydiving League will run their first meets of the 2010 season, as well. The other two meets take place in Italy and the United Kingdom.
