Did you know that the Georgia Skydiving League enjoys great support this year? posted: Apr 28th, 2010 The 2010 competition season began with several major events, which deserved and required a lot of attention by the NSL News. Other smaller events happened almost unnoticed, although those are the ones that have actually built the foundation of the national and international NSL Network.
One of the events earlier this year was the season opener of the Georgia Skydiving League at the beginning of April. Five teams competed in the AA Class at Skydive The Farm. This does not seem to be a lot, but it actually stands for a serious upswing in one of the oldest leagues in the USA.

Did you know that the World Challenge 2010 was wide open again after Round 9? posted: Apr 27th, 2010 The NSL News story on 24 April 2010 mentioned that the top contenders at the World Challenge 2010 needed help from Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge. It seemed after Round 8 as if the French national team was settling safely in 1st place.
Round 9 then brought the drama that makes 4-way competition in the year 2010 probably more exciting than ever before. One bad round can be costly and change the whole situation. The competition is so tight that everything seems to be possible.
It does not even take a real bad round, which can bring desaster. Arizona Airspeed, for example, was never able to recover... (more)
Did you know that Skydive Elsinore had a busy day on the SCSL season opener? posted: Apr 26th, 2010 With five competing teams, 105 tandems and 20+ AFF's happening, it was a busy day at Skydive Elsinore for the opening SCSL Meet of the season.
Graced with blue skies and perfect 75 degree skydiving weather, Elsinore was a fantastic host with the awards ceremony finished and the adult beverages flowing well before sunset.
With no AAA Class teams competing, the highlight of the day was in the A Class as the Royal Air Force Demo teams battled it out. Having learned the dive pool only two weeks ago and competing in their first ever 4-way meet, the 7.1 and 7.6 averages of these two teams were... (more)
Did you know that Polaris is going after the Norgie Girls' 16.2 average? posted: Apr 25th, 2010 The NSL News has covered Norway's new national 4-way team in the female category, Polaris, since it was put together at the end of the 2009 season. The story on 20 January 2010 introduced the lineup in detail. The NSL News followed up on 14 April 2010 after the team's attendance at the World Challenge 2010 and before the April meet of the Florida Skydiving League.
The Norwegian teams have always received attention for many reasons. It is still impressive how the scarcely populated Scandinavian country produces very competitive and sometimes world class lineups year after year. In addition, the... (more)
Did you know that XP4 created the only move on the top of the leaderboard in Round 8? posted: Apr 24th, 2010 Round 8 at the World Challenge 2010 did not change much of the rankings on the top of the leaderboard. It was still a meaningful round, as the situation did not tighten up any longer as it had happened in the previous rounds. The distance between 4th and 1st place changed from three to six points, and Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge added another two points to the lead over Perris Fury. It seemed like France began to run away from the field after the new sole highscore for Round 8. (more)
Did you know that the Shamrock Showdown 2011 may feature the first visit of a team from Ireland? posted: Apr 23rd, 2010 It has been a while since the NSL News covered Formation Skydiving competition in Ireland the last time. The FSL Shamrock Showdown gets a lot of attention every year, even though no team from Ireland has ever attended the popular annual event in March. This may change in 2011.
The NSL News now had a good reason to go back to Ireland as a topic since an Irish 4-way team, FastAir, was recently training in DeLand. FastAir was another team that was seriously affected by Eyjafjallajökull, the volcano in Iceland that brought air traffic between Europe and America to a complete halt. The NSL News... (more)
