News Article Did you know that things turned out differently than they looked like in Round 6?
posted: Jan 12th, 2010 The scores for the second round of the day were posted really late in Dubai. However, they are up now, and they brought new surprises. Arizona Airspeed has continued to successfully maintain the 20-point and up per round streak today. The world champions were the only team with a 2 at the beginning of the score in Round 5, and Round 6 was a faster one anyway. Nothing seems to be in the way any longer to add another meet with only 20-pointers and up from here on. It is once again impressive that slower rounds, point deductions, little hickups here and there and even the exits from the Bell... (more)
News Article Did you know that Hayabusa Defence may save the best for last?
posted: Jan 12th, 2010 Things have been moving a little bit quicker today in Dubai, and the scores for Round 5 have already been posted. It will also be the first time where the teams will complete two rounds on the same day. Round 6 is complete, and the judges are working on the scores. Round 5 added another single point to the thin Airspeed lead. The 4-way world champions were not overly happy with their performance: "Just landed from Round 5. We had a decent jump, but we left at least one point on the table. The round looks clean to us and timed as an unofficial 20. We were a bit restrained for some reason on this... (more)
News Article Did you know that the atmosphere in Dubai was heating up in Rounds 3 and 4?
posted: Jan 12th, 2010 Arizona Airspeed's re-jump for Round 3 had an aftermath that lasted for a little while. The Hayabusa Defence Blog showed that the reason for the re-jump was disputed and not appreciated by everybody: "There were some problems with the air speed of the chopper when Airspeed needed to jump out in Round 3. There was a big discussion going on, it is better that I spare you the details, but it wasn't nice, what they pulled out this time, to get their re-jump. The protest came in AFTER they knew the score." Hayabusa was of the opinion that a protest should be filed before a team knows the score,... (more)
News Article Did you know that Deep Blue's videos look better than the scores?
posted: Jan 11th, 2010 There is obviously much less drama in the female 4-way competition in Dubai. In fact, there is no drama, and it was not expected to be any different than that. The competition is still a great opportunity to see how the French national team, Aerokart Deep Blue Maubeuge, performs at this point in time. Deep Blue already clearly dominated the female 4-way competition at the World Cup 2009. There was actually just as little competition for the team in the Czech Republic as there is now in Dubai. The two other top contenders in the world, Team Bodyflight with former Bodyflight Storm and other... (more)
News Article Did you know that Hayabusa's first winning round was postponed?
posted: Jan 11th, 2010 Yesterday's last headline will most likely have to be corrected - and then maybe not. It has not been officially posted yet that Arizona Airspeed made a re-jump for Round 3 at the Dubai Championship 2010 and improved the score from 20 to 22. However, Airspeed confirmed the re-jump already very early this morning: "We were granted a re-jump to an excessively slow jump run speed for our Round 3..." Airspeed then commented the score for Round 3 after the re-jump: "Round 3 and 4 are both done. Official score on Round 3 re-jump was 22, we must have had a bust in there somewhere, as we had... News Article Did you know that this Hayabusa lineup won its first outdoor round over Airspeed?
posted: Jan 10th, 2010 The scores for Round 3 are posted, and the same four teams are still in the same race for the money positions. However, some things have already changed. There are actually two different races now, one for the 1st place between Arizona Airspeed and Hayabusa Defence, and the other one between France Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge and Canada Evolution. This is not a big surprise, as the NSL News mentioned already earlier. France is missing Point Mathieu Bernier, and it would turn the skydiving logic upside down if such a well trained team could perform on the same level with an alternate, even if the... (more)
