Did you know that SkyQuest 2009 might or might not be a competition? posted: Nov 8th, 2009 Not only the competition draw of the 100-way meet at SkyQuest 2009 has already been posted, as the NSL News reported on 5 November 2009. BJ Worth and his team captains have also finalized the lineups of their two 100-way teams. The rosters will be posted very soon.
BJ Worth made fun of the latest NSL News update when he sent the second Kaleidoscope bulletin to his 200 competitors. He hinted in his message that it is far fetched to call the Kaleidoscope Dives 2009 a 100-way competition. The NSL News may have to study the definition of a competition.
However, it still is the first time that... (more)
Did you know that Mark Kirkby goes a litte bit farther than many other runners? posted: Nov 7th, 2009 The videos of Round 4 at the 2009 USPA National Skydiving Championships are coming along with an interesting story related to the reigning 4-way world champions and the old and new US national 4-way team, Arizona Airspeed.
The actual videos of Round 4 are showing Airspeed delivering the second heavy blow to the direct rivals for the top spot. Airspeed came already out of the gate very strongly and had a 2-point lead over Spaceland Force XP after Round 1, three points over Perris Fury.
The Force fought back in Round 2 and eliminated the Airspeed advantage. Then Airspeed won Round 3 by one... (more)
Did you know that Finland's Pro Team has passed Denmark's Voluntas? posted: Nov 6th, 2009 The NSL News reported on 1 November 2009 that the audience had voted for Denmark's national 4-way team Voluntas as the unofficial Scandinavian champion of 2009.
It turned out that the Scandinavian 4-way fans and others in the audience were not done when the first results were posted. The NSL News re-visited the same poll results later and discovered that they had changed.
In fact, the results had changed significantly in the meantime. Finland's Pro Team is now quite far ahead of Voluntas, and all four teams collected votes, including Norway's two team options, either the national team Nexus... (more)
Did you know that the competition draw has been posted two weeks before the meet? posted: Nov 5th, 2009 It's a little bit early to post the competition draw for a meet that it still two weeks away. However, it is very unlikely that any of the teams will be able to practice the competition jumps before the meet actually begins.
The first competition day is Thursday, November 19. It would be an incredible logistical challenge to line up the 100 competitors of one of the teams to train the sequences before the competition begins.
Seriously, it is not really a competition draw. BJ Worth, organizer of this year's Kaleidoscope Dives at SkyQuest 2009, has now released the 100-way sequences that will... (more)
Did you know that AAT/MD/Rogue members organize the next wind tunnel meet? posted: Nov 4th, 2009 The NSL News has covered the unofficial "amateur record average" quite a few times in the past. Mass Defiance (Ben Liston - Center Inside, Jim Rees - Tail, John Silva - Center Outside, Brian Stephens - Point, Scuba" Steve Feldman - Camera) had posted the 19.3 average at the USPA Nationals 2007.
The highest 10-round meet average of a weekend amateur team is still standing since no team scored higher at the 2009 USPA National Skydiving Championships. Two former Mass Defiance members, Ben Liston and Brian Stephens, watched the top challenger of this record, SDC Rhythm XP, trying to break it this... (more)
Did you know that Ian Bobo used a Halloween trick at the USPA Nationals 2009? posted: Nov 3rd, 2009 It takes a while to catch up with a major event, such as a the 2009 USPA National Skydiving Championships.
In fact, it is almost impossible to cover every little detail of so many teams that get together at the same time.
NSL-TV has not uploaded too many of the 4-way Open Class rounds of the top teams so far. The story on 13 October 2009 included the videos of Round 1 of the top teams, the next story on the same day Round 2.
A video of the action around the world record Round 6 was also uploaded with the story on 14 October 2009. This video clip of the world record show included the actual... (more)
