News Article Did you know that three U.S. teams battled for one set of USPA bronze medals?
posted: Sep 20th, 2022 Arizona Airspeed's winning margin of 54 points (258 - 204) for the USPA gold medals at this year's national championships was the highest one in USPA history. It was above 30 points twice before, first in 2014 (32), then again in 2018 (32) when SDC Rhythm XP placed 2nd with alternate Rob Radez. A year after the 32-point difference of 2018, the complete Rhythm lineup managed the unthinkable and defeated Airspeed's previous lineup in the jump-off round at Paraclete XP. The difference went up to 12 points last year, between the new Airspeed lineup and SDC Rhythm XP with Christy Frikken. There... (more)
News Article Did you know that five more Belgian teams also used the USPA competition draw?
posted: Sep 19th, 2022 The NSL News reported on September 10th that Arizona Airspeed and Qatar Tigers would have a Belgian opponent, as well. The host of the national championships in Belgium had decided to copy the competition draw of the USPA Nationals, and the combined leaderboard would show all teams that performed the ten AAA sequences. The update was posted after the first four rounds in Belgium were completed, while the U.S. 4-way teams were already done with their ten rounds on Saturday. All Belgian teams would be back on Sunday to add the scores for the remaining six rounds to the leaderboards. The combined... (more)
News Article Did you know that the 10-way Speed competition had an unexpected ending for the favorites?
posted: Sep 18th, 2022 The traditional Formation Skydiving competition events of the annual USPA Nationals always finish with 16-way and 10-way Speed. Despite the two days of rain and no competition rounds at all on Sunday and Monday, all Formation Skydiving events were still completed without a missing round. 4-way and 8-way Formation Skydiving are usually the most exciting events, as the Open Class competition includes the qualification for the world meets and world cups in the following year. 4-way fans will remember the extremely exciting finish in the 4-way Open competition of 2019, where SDC Rhythm XP forced... News Article Did you know that the Airbus 8-way lineup won with three substitutes in Germany?
posted: Sep 17th, 2022 The 8-way competition at the German Outdoor Nationals was not completed this year. The six participating teams were stopped by bad weather after Round 8. It was the only outdoor competition that the German national Airbus team attended since last year's national championships, and before they may compete for bronze medals at the FAI Outdoor World Meet next month in Eloy. The 10-round averages that the Airbus 8-way lineups have finished with in the last decade have been in the range where the bronze medal scores are expected to be, and that could allow a new team to step up onto the FAI 8-way... News Article Did you know that Joey Jones and Gary Smith wrapped it up in the NSL Coaches Corner?
posted: Sep 15th, 2022 The 8-way teams did not complete all ten rounds on Tuesday, even though it came close. The 12 Open/Advanced Class teams completed nine rounds, and the Intermediate Class 8-way teams were done after Round 8. It has become crystal clear, and there is no doubt any longer, that Paraclete's XP8 lineup will have no opposition at the FAI Outdoor World Meet. The visiting Qatar Falcons were able to outscore all other U.S. 8-way teams, which is never guaranteed, while they ended up 50 points behind XP8. The Falcons' 17.2 average still indicates that they have a very realistic chance to win the FAI silver... (more)
News Article Did you know that the SDC Rhebellion XP story had a happy ending?
posted: Sep 14th, 2022 SDC Rhebellion XP caught the attention of the NSL News the first time during a Rhythm indoor training camp at Paraclete XP. The story on 1 February 2021 introduced the three team members who were present at the time of the interview (Aga Horoszko, Kelsey Strock, Greg Bush). Eric Bambach was not available for the January camp at Paraclete XP. The complete lineup then attended their first 4-way competition a month later, the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021, and they finished in 4th place. Team members participated at a few more Indoor Cloud League events of the ICL Midwest team before switching... (more)
