News Article Did you know that Germany's 4-way comeback happened at the Paranodon Cup?
posted: Jun 14th, 2021 The annual Paranodon Cup in Illertissen was the outdoor restart competition in Germany. It was to be expected that the event would be smaller than usual, while a total number of eight teams still made it to the home of the Airbus teams. Even Air-W from Switzerland made the trip once again and have not missed the Paranodon Cup since 2015. There was no event last year, due to the pandemic situation, and the Swiss team attended its 6th Paranodon Cup last weekend. Air-W still have two original members (Beat Kaltenrieder, Frede Wilde) in the current lineup, who competed in the A Class competition... (more)
News Article Did you know that Spaceland Inferno members continued in 4-way Open as individuals?
posted: Jun 13th, 2021 The AA/Intermediate Class rules and dive pools had settled for good at the USPA Nationals 2002. The 16 blocks without any slot-switchers and all 16 random formations have created the ten sequences for the event in 2002 and until now. Increasing the number of rounds from six to ten was the last move that was made for the 2002 championships. Teams in USPA's Intermediate Class completed only six rounds until 2001. Six rounds on 2-day meet weekends were also the standard for National Skydiving League events from the very beginning. Juggernaut won the first 10-round meet in the new Intermediate... (more)
News Article Did you know that only the U.S.A. have a flawless FS participation record?
posted: Jun 12th, 2021 It is a challenging task for a country's skydiving federation to select a complete delegation for FAI/ISC world championships and world cups in all events, and to make sure that the teams and competitors will represent the country at the respective event. There are many more competitive skydiving disciplines at the major events, and the NSL News has been covering exclusively traditional Formation Skydiving competition (4-way Open, 8-way Open, 4-way Women), with a few random efforts to include 4-way VFS, as well. The sport of skydiving competition has a vast majority of recreational athletes... (more)
News Article Did you know that British Skydiving canceled the participation at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020?
posted: Jun 11th, 2021 The next update from Great Britain is only indirectly related to the restart of the United Kingdom Skydiving League that the NSL News covered yesterday, with the help of British Skydiving Judges Coordinator Lucy Westgarth. The British national team in 4-way Open, Chimera, competed at the event to get some competition practice in the run-up to the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020 in August. Chimera, NFTO (4-way Women) and Microclim8 (8-way Open) would compete for Great Britain in the three traditional Formation Skydiving events under regular circumstances, after winning their qualification status in 2019. Unfortunately,... (more)
News Article Did you know that Seven British 4-way teams had their restart last weekend?
posted: Jun 9th, 2021 The next restart of Formation Skydiving competition at the apparent tail end of the pandemic took place in Great Britain, where UK Parachuting Sibson hosted the season opener of the United Kingdom Skydiving League (UKSL). It seems to be difficult to realize that the last 4-way competition in Great Britain was the national championship in August 2019. A total of 40 teams competed at the event and completed all meet rounds. That was the end of 4-way and 8-way competition in the country until last weekend. Chimera and Pajama Pumas both still added one more meet in 2019 and traveled to Arizona... (more)
News Article Did you know that USPA Nationals included the A Class/Beginner format in 2000 and 2001?
posted: Jun 8th, 2021 The recent introduction of the 4-way Beginner category (A Class) by the U.S. Parachute Association (USPA) has been the topic for the NSL News since it was announced as a test event for this year's national championships at Skydive Arizona in October. A total of 26 teams have posted scores in the A Class this year, 11 of them at meets in the NSL Network, 15 more at events in the United Kingdom and Australia. That's a lot in a time when the Formation Skydiving competition world seems to slowly begin with recovery from the corona virus crisis. The last complete competition year before the pandemic... (more)
