News Article Did you know that dive pool changers still ignore 95% of 4-way teams and competitors?
posted: Jan 20th, 2025 The dive pool is not a new topic for the NSL News, as it has been covered several times in the past, including the TURNING POINTS column in the discontinued BLUE SKIES MAG. The last changes in the dive pool were announced in 2018 to be applied in 2019, the previous ones in 2010 for 2011. The current 4-way dive pool had its adjustments at the beginning of the 2019 season when two of the 22 blocks were fine-tuned (Block 1) or replaced (Block 13) with the purpose of synchronizing indoor and outdoor dive pools. There has always been opposition to changes of the dive pool when there was no need for... (more)
News Article Did you know that missions were accomplished at the Czech Open Indoor Championship 2025?
posted: Jan 19th, 2025 The Czech Open Indoor Championship 2025 was successfully completed on Saturday. Skywalkers Junior received their first national indoor gold medals, as it was expected. The NSL News mentioned in the preview last week that the team's goal would be higher than just winning the competition. They accomplished the goal of posting a new team record average with the 25.9 which improves the scoring level of last year's winner, HF Chameleons, by three points. Next target is the 27.0 average of the HF Cubs, which is still the highest average that any Czech 4-way team has posted in the country's formation... (more)
News Article Did you know that Arcteryx members Ditta Valsdottir and Mattias Nord met at Crystal Coast?
posted: Jan 17th, 2025 The NSL News coverage of the 26th FAI World Formation Skydiving Championships at Crystal Coast included the unfortunate situation of the Norwegian national team in 4-way Women, Thyra. Silvana Disch, the youngest team member, got sick in the last days of the training camp in DeLand and had to withdraw from training, competition and the road trip to North Carolina. National coach and DeLand Norgies FAI bronze medalist of 1999, 2001 and 2003, Carl-Erik Tuv, was at least lucky enough to fill the open slot on a very short call. His former team mate Lise Aune/Nansen was able to make herself available... (more)
News Article Did you know that the new and promising Airbus 4-way lineup compete at the Shamrock Showdown?
posted: Jan 16th, 2025 The NSL News recently covered the new lineup of the German national team in 4-way Open, Airbus 4 Illertissen. The first update on January 4th of the new year included the official team announcement and the personnel changes. The story on January 7th followed up with a related topic, as the German 4-way team has been a part of the competition for the unofficial title of the world's amateur champion in the past decade. German 4-way teams have made the Top 10 at FAI Outdoor World Championships each time since 1989, including two 5th places in 1991 and 2004. The Airbus lineup of the last five years... (more)
News Article Did you know that Skywalkers Junior rotate their five team members?
posted: Jan 14th, 2025 The NSL News has followed the development of the Czech 4-way team Skywalkers Junior since the team members started with 4-way training and competition when they were junior students in Jan Klapka's 4-way school at the Hurricane Factory in Prague. The Skywalkers Junior members have grown to become the national indoor and outdoor team in 4-way Open, and they are aiming at the highest goals in the sport. However, there are still a few goals on the national level on their way to the higher targets, which could be accomplished this coming weekend. Skywalkers are the national 4-way outdoor champions... News Article Did you know that air-to-air video judging was introduced to formation skydiving competition in 1992?
posted: Jan 13th, 2025 InTime's Claire King, who is also a highly experienced FAI Judge, recently went on a mission that she shared with the NSL News. She was trying to find out how long air-to-air video recordings have been used in Formation Skydiving competition, and when the transition from ground-to-air video judging took place. The judging of Formation Skydiving competition jumps actually began with even less technology than ground-to-air video recordings. The previous and earliest judging technique of 4-way and 8-way competition jumps required only binoculars on tripods and three judges who communicated the... (more)
