News Article Did you know that Sequenz won their next indoor title in Denmark with a team record average?
posted: Nov 6th, 2024 Teams in Denmark were next to switch from outdoor training and competition to indoor activities, and the national indoor championship was scheduled for the beginning of the indoor winter season. Once again, the event did not take place in Denmark, even though there is actually an iFLY facility with a 14-foot flying chamber in Denmark's capital city, Copenhagen. Danish 4-way teams traveled to Berlin in Germany for previous national championships. The travel distance to the event site was much closer this year, as Scandinavian neighbor country Sweden has one of its three windtunnels in Malmo,... (more)
News Article Did you know that Gary Smith followed up with world meet aftermath and foresight?
posted: Nov 5th, 2024 Gary Smith is not only a 4-way world champion of 2004 (DeLand Majik) and 2006 (DeLand Fire), after his previous career with South African teams, including 1997 bronze medalists DeLand Equanimity. He is probably better know now for his most successful coaching career, which brought NMP PCH HayaBusa to the top of the 4-way world, and guided Qatar Falcons and Qatar Tigers to the country's first FAI medals in Formation Skydiving competition. The NSL News also covered on October 25th how he currently gets a new generation of 4-way teams and competitors in Qatar ready for the near future, together... (more)
News Article Did you know that the road to new FAI medals began after Round 10 at Crystal Coast?
posted: Nov 4th, 2024 It had never happened in the history of Formation Skydiving competition that the three 4-way Open Class medal winners finished in the same order in consecutive outdoor world championships since 1985 - until 2016/2018. France, United States and Norway kept their hands on the FAI medals between 1999 and 2003, while the ranking order changed in the three events. Eventually it happened in 2016 and 2018 when the national 4-way Open Class teams from Belgium, United States and France finished in exactly the same order. However, this unusual and rare continuity was over again after Australia 2018 when... (more)
News Article Did you know that Brazil's Netunos won the first 8-way duel with Great Britain in history?
posted: Nov 3rd, 2024 The most exciting part of the 8-way competition at the 26th FAI World Formation Skydiving Championships was naturally GKXP8's challenge of the historic scoring numbers, which ended with a new world record 37-pointer for the longest sequence in Round 9 (3,M,N,4) and the tied 23.9 record average after all ten rounds. The medal winning teams did not face any competition for their ranking positions on the leaderboard, as the NSL News mentioned in the 8-way update on October 31st. However, there was a serious battle going on behind the medal positions, the 8-way duel between Brazil (Netunos) and... (more)
News Article Did you know that Skywalkers Junior also continue with the indoor progression?
posted: Nov 2nd, 2024 The outdoor summer season is over in most parts of Europe in October. Teams in the Czech Republic concluded their 2024 outdoor season at the national championship in August, and the current national team in 4-way Open, Skywalkers Junior, followed up with ten more outdoor rounds at the ESL Championship 2024, where they collected international competition experiences. The NSL News reported on October 1st how impressive the Skywalkers Junior outdoor scoring progression has been, after the former 4-way juniors completed their transition to outdoor training and competition last year. They won the... (more)
News Article Did you know that FS Sweep and Double Gold connect with Jeana Billings and Mathieu Bernier?
posted: Nov 1st, 2024 The well covered and discussed "formation skydiving competition sweep" (FS Sweep) is as little an official award for any country's delegation as the unofficial "amateur world championship title" or the "double duties". They are no more than journalistic topics for the NSL News, even though they are quite meaningful for teams and competitors, and for the audience, as well. The 26th FAI World Formation Skydiving Championships had the potential for a new FS Sweep, as the NSL News mentioned several times during the previews of the event. The unofficial FS Sweep began as the combination of winning... (more)
