Did you know that SportLoto has caught up with Thunder with one day to go? posted: Dec 30th, 2012 It seemed like there could be only one winner in the NSL Poll for the unofficial title of the world amateur champion of 2012. Thunder was far ahead of Satori and Ex3mo before the Russian 4way team SportLoto was added to the list of candidates.
Thunder was still clearly in the lead a day later, even though SportLoto collected the first votes rather quickly. Now the picture has completely changed, with only one more day to go before the poll will be closed. SportLoto has indeed caught up after a total of over 400 votes have been submitted. In fact, the Russian world class amateur 4way team has... (more)
Did you know that the Paraclete XP Indoor AA/Intermediate Class winner gets free tickets to the USPA Nationals 2013? posted: Dec 29th, 2012 There were times with real winter breaks in the history of skydiving competition, but that was long ago...
US teams went south if they really wanted to train in the winter, and European teams traveled across the Atlantic Ocean for their winter training.
The earliest competitions of the new skydiving season in the western hemisphere were the Valentine's Meet at Skydive Arizona in February and the Shamrock Showdown - now the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship - at Skydive DeLand in March.
The wind tunnels have changed the meet world with the painfully long winter breaks, and the 2013 season... (more)
Did you know that Chris Farina is Arizona Airspeed's new Point? posted: Dec 28th, 2012 It was not a very well hidden secret that Arizona Airspeed, new 4way world champion after the Mondial Dubai 2012, was recruiting a new team member.
Observers of a little tryout session at SkyVenture Arizona after the USPA Nationals 2012 knew first that something was going on. From then on, there were several rumors and stories that circulated in the wordwide 4way community. Fact was only that Josh Hall would be the leaving Airspeed member.
The NSL News had announced after the USPA Nationals and before the Mondial, on 19 November 2012, that SDC Rhythm XP was recruiting, as well, after Thiago... (more)
Did you know that Thunder is also the leader in meet attendance? posted: Dec 27th, 2012 It has been an overwhelming response by the NSL News audience so far, and the poll has been well attended. The current results are very much representative, and Thunder is the main favorite for the unofficial title of the world's best amateur team in 2012. The poll is still open and will remain so until the turn of the year.
It seems as if the new unofficial amateur world champion for the first time will be a team that did not compete at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving and was only a guest team at the World Cup. It does not mean at all that Thunder did not compete enough. In fact,... (more)
Did you know that SportLoto has joined the race for the unofficial world amateur title? posted: Dec 26th, 2012 A fourth team has been added to the candidates for the world's best amateur team in 2012, and the NSL News audience has the option to vote again if desired. SportLoto from Russia surely competed on the same scoring and performance level as the other three teams, as the NSL News story on 17 September 2012 clearly pointed out.
The current poll was sparked by the results at the Mondial Dubai 2012, as the NSL News usually checks on this topic after the main IPC event each year, either the World Cup or the World Championship of Formation Skydiving.
However, the situation has been different this... (more)
Did you know that the NSL News audience can vote for the world's best amateur team of 2012? posted: Dec 25th, 2012 It is time to give a very special part of the Mondial Dubai 2012 leaderboard the deserved attention that the winner of the unofficial Scandinavian Championship, Bardagi, lately received.
This special part of the leaderboard is the "grey area" between the professional top performers in the sport and the recreational teams and competitors who use their weekends, holidays, vacations and personal resources to train as much as possible.
The end of the year is the right time to determine the unofficial amateur world champion of 2012.
This is not an easy task, and the NSL News audience will have... (more)
