News Article Did you know that competing during the Midsummer Night Boogie in Finland is challenging?
posted: Jul 4th, 2012 The longest day of the year, Midsummer Night on June 21st, is probably the biggest celebration of all holidays in the Scandinavian countries. The summer is short in the northern parts of Europe, and skydiving events need to be squeezed into the short window. It's a time with higher frequency of meets and events than in other areas. Finland's Juhannus Day midsummer boogie took place from 18th to 24th of June, starring big way training from two Cessna Caravans, wing suit flocks and abundant rainfall. This year's event was hosted by the Tampere Parachuting Club at the home dropzone on the Jämijärvi... (more)
News Article Did you know that Patrick Boulongne finally asked Sophie Deremaux the big question?
posted: Jul 3rd, 2012 A special event took place not even two weeks ago in France, and Aerodyne Deep Blue Defender Perrine Sanchez provided the NSL News with the details: "It was a long wait. Last year, Patrick Boulongne FINALLY asked Sophie Deremaux if she wanted to marry him. After six years, Sophie Deremaux thought that marriage wasn’t really something Patrick Boulongne was interested in. So she didn’t expect it anymore. However, she did not hesitate a second when it was eventually time to say yes." "The next step into a more private and personal world came when Sophie Deremaux decided to discontinue her international... (more)
News Article Did you know that Northwest Skydiving League teams and competitors still wait for the beginning of summer?
posted: Jul 3rd, 2012 The NSL News reported on 16 May 2012 that Deb Correia was calling the Northwest Skydiving League community back to action. The story on 5 June 2012 explained how iFLY Seattle hosted an indoor event that included the potential 4way teams and competitors of the NWSL 2012 season. The first outdoor competition was scheduled for last weekend, and the NSL News reported earlier that the event was completely weathered out. This did not hold back Deb Correia from using the ground time for valuable coaching sessions and general jump preparations. She also discussed an indoor showdown between iFLY Seattle/Northwest... News Article Did you know that CTR Optimum keeps up the scoring progression in and for Brazil?
posted: Jul 2nd, 2012 A total of 25 teams actually competed last weekend, however, all scores can not be found on the same leaderboard, as there were three different competition draws for three different meets. However, at least for now, all scores can still be found on the same page at the scores overview. Six teams competed in Brazil and used the original weekly NSL competition draw for two of the four categories. Three Brazilian teams competed in the AAA Class and three more in the AA Class. The field included both national 4way teams, CTR Optimum in the Open Class and Fenix in the female 4way category. The... (more)
News Article Did you know that the Brit Chicks have extended their 8way project?
posted: Jul 2nd, 2012 The scores of the Z-Scrambles have moved from the front page to the home page of the Florida Skydiving League, and new scores from the United Kingdom have taken the front page place. There were actually three different competition draws last weekend. The Z-Scrambles story mentioned that the one for this annual event is modified for the participants. It is somehow a mixture between Rookie Class and A Class. The scores from the United Kingdom are coming from an 8way event, and the draw for both categories uses the numbers and letters of the 8way dive pool. Then there is also the traditional... (more)
News Article Did you know that the Z-Scrambles teams raised the meet average significantly?
posted: Jul 1st, 2012 The annual Z-Scrambles brought 12 teams together on a very hot Saturday at Skydive City. Laura Song and Oren Kalb had once again prepared the event for 4way fans and recreational skydivers who mix up with more experienced team captains and player coaches for a casual day of 4way fun. Dive pool, competition draw and working time are specific and only taylored to this event. The 3- or 4-point sequences for the four rounds include only the easier random formations and most popular blocks. Block 6 (Stardian - Stardian) and Block 21 (Zig Zag - Marquis) were drawn for this year's event. The working... (more)
