News Article Did you know that Fastair met Airspeed at the Shamrock Showdown?
posted: Apr 11th, 2011 The April issue of the Blue Skies Mag included a new piece of the "Turning Points" series. It is the fourth contribution from the Formation Skydiving competition community for the comprehensive Blue Skies Mag coverage of the whole skydiving world. The January article had introduced the new Arizona Airspeed lineup and speculated of the team's potential. In February, the NSL News author covered the rest of the 4-way world and the teams who will compete with Airspeed. The situation after the Dubai Championship 2011 was discussed in March, and the newest "Turning Points" provided input after the... (more)
News Article Did you know that Round 4 brought the last sole highscore for NMP-PCH Hayabusa?
posted: Apr 10th, 2011 The fast sequence of random formations in Round 3 of the World Challenge 2011 had separated the three top teams significantly, and Aerodyne Aerokart Maubeuge even dropped to the 4th place. The French national team would make it back to the 3rd place eventually. However, that was all that could be done as of adjustments on the top of the leaderboard after Round 3. NMP-PCH Hayabusa did not even stop after creating a 7-point lead over Arizona Airspeed. The 29-pointer in Round 4 somehow reminded on the French Round 10 at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010. Arizona Airspeed and Aerodyne... (more)
News Article Did you know that Chris Farina witnessed the challenge of Perris Fury's 66-pointer?
posted: Apr 9th, 2011 Then it was time for the much anticipated Round 3 at the World Challenge 2011. The sequence of only random formations was not a surprise to the teams since host Paul Mayer has embedded the requirement of a sequence of random formations in his rules for the World Challenge. The only open questions were the letters of the randoms and which round it would be. Last year's Airspeed "meltdown" was still in everybody's mind in Bedford this year, and the teams were on their toes as of the importance of this special round. A bad performance in Round 3 this time could be very costly. It still happened... (more)
News Article Did you know that Elsinore launched a new 4-way season in Southern California and the Czech Republic a new windtunnel?
posted: Apr 8th, 2011 The season opener of the Southern California Skydiving League was scheduled much earlier this year and went by almost unnoticed. That's not a big surprise since last weekend's full attention was focused on the World Challenge 2011. Three teams competed at Skydive Elsinore and squeezed their names into the huge leaderboard of the biggest indoor competition in the world. All three teams can be found on the AA Class leaderboard or at the SCSL homepage. There is actually a fourth team from California on the same leaderboard. The NSL News reported earlier that Perris Jimani made the trip to Bedford.... (more)
News Article Did you know that only 4 of 40 teams came to Bedford with the same lineup?
posted: Apr 7th, 2011 The Top 5 teams were untouched by the red CamScore markers on the scoresheets for Round 1. This changed in Round 2 when NMP-PCH Hayabusa (-1) and Arizona Airspeed (-2) suffered their first point deductions. Both had completed 26 points in working time, but Hayabusa shared the highscore for the round with Aerodyne Aerokart Maubeuge. The rankings after Round 2 was the only time when the French national team was in 2nd place at the World Challenge 2011. SportsLotto, the promising new Russian lineup, lost another important point in the race for the 5th place with SDC Rhythm XP. The Russian team... (more)
News Article Did you know that the Round 1 videos show a Thunder nightmare into the World Challenge 2011?
posted: Apr 6th, 2011 The NSL News review of the World Challenge 2011 continues with the video coverage of the Top 10 teams in Bedford. It begins with Round 1, and the ten best teams are now under the microscope of the NSL News audience from the judging angle. The NSL News also added the point deductions, which were assigned by the judges in this round. The German national team in the female category, ISB Air, with Gary Smith filling in for Sarah Hajooze, had a great start into the competition and kept up with Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders and Thunder throughout the first day in the race for the Top 10. This was... (more)
