Did you know that 4-way world champion Natasha Montgomery is doing well after a crash with a helicopter? posted: Sep 28th, 2009 Good and bad news at the same time reached the NSL News last week. A helicopter crash near San Diego in California was related to Natasha Montgomery, 4-way world champion with DeLand Fire in Germany 2006.
The bad news was the fact that Natasha Montgomery was indeed the pilot of her own Robinson R-44 chopper, which crashed in the rugged mountain area. The good news is that all people on board survived and were treated only for injuries. Airspeed member Craig Girard said that Natasha Montgomery had already responded to text messages when he spoke with the NSL News last week. (more)
Did you know that two Mass Defiance members try to defend their own record and offer free coaching? posted: Sep 26th, 2009 The AAA Class "amateur championship" at the USPA Nationals 2009 has become a new twist, which caused the NSL News to add a team to the specific poll for this unofficial meet within the meet.
SDC Rhythm XP and the Midwest team's pursuit of Mass Defiance's 19.3 "amateur scoring record" caught the NSL News attention several times this year. Sebastian Tempest joined Rhythm on this trip after a great performance at the September meet of the Florida Skydiving League. Spaceland Blue's all-female lineup has been another NSL News candidate for breaking the Mass Defiance record.

Did you know that SkyQuest 2009 is a dress rehearsal for the World Team of 2010? posted: Sep 25th, 2009 The end of the 2009 season is coming closer quickly. The USPA Nationals 2009 in three weeks includes the major Formation Skydiving competition in the USA this year. SkyQuest 2009, including the NSL Championship 2009, concludes the NSL 2009 season in November.
BJ Worth's Kaleidoscope Dives have become the largest ingredient of the annual SkyQuest event. The success of the project now has motivated BJ Worth to go even bigger and invite a second group of Kaleidoscope Divers to SkyQuest 2009. This year's event will see a friendly big-way competition.

Did you know that the Airspeed and Paraclete 8-way lineups are shaken up? posted: Sep 24th, 2009 The NSL News story on 23 September 2009 included the meet videos of Perris Fury at the September meet of the Texas Skydiving League and an update of the Spaceland Force XP situation little over three weeks before the start of the USPA Nationals 2009.
The story mentioned that the Force is currently dealing with Gary Beyer's shoulder injury, which puts a questionmark behind his availability at the championships. Brian Johnson is currently training with the team as a substitute and may have to step in for the competition if Gary Beyer doesn't recover early enough.

Did you know that instant judging is one of the IPC goals? posted: Sep 24th, 2009 As usual at IPC's 1st Category Events (World Cups, World Meets), the FAI World Cup 2009 included an open meeting for teams, competitors, coaches and offcials. The one in Prostejov was held after the judging of the last round was completed.
Fiona McEachern, Chair of IPC's Formation Skydiving Competition Committee, was not present in the Czech Republic. Deputy Chair Trude Sviggum, IPC Delegate for Norway and former international 4-way competitor in the female category, conducted the meeting for the IPC Competition Committee.

Did you know that the Perris Fury videos show what happened in Texas? posted: Sep 23rd, 2009 The Perris Fury scores from Texas needed another correction. The final and official score for Round 3 is 12 points. Fury completed 16 points in working time and lost four points due to video issues.
Fury's Center Inside Chris Farina provided the meet videos and the exact breakdown of the numbers. The audience now has the opportunity to see what happended in each of the rounds. This does not include Round 1, of course, where Fury had to accept a Zero for a video that could not be judged.
