Did you know that a shorter meet duration brings more time pressure? posted: Aug 12th, 2008 The weather situation has once again deteriorated this morning. Meet Director Patrice Girardin tried to get all he could out of yesterday's many hours of jumpable weather conditions in Maubeuge, and he succeeded with it as four completed rounds in all three Formation Skydiving events show. Only the German 8-way team EADS still has to do Round 4.
It was not convenient for the 4-way competitors who had to wait all afternoon for possibly another jump at the end of the day. Patrice Girardin has to accommodate not only the 8-way event, as well, he is also in charge of getting all artistic events... (more)
Did you know that Deep Blue members repaired the Fun Flag - and lost it? posted: Aug 11th, 2008 The 8-way teams are still completing Round 4, while the 4-way teams were sent home in the late afternoon without any more jumping. The last update of the day is once again about the most important item of the World Meet 2008 in Maubeuge, the Fun Flag.
The last uploads of some more NSL-TV videos will follow later this evening.
The NSL News reported sad news this morning, the Fun Flag was not flying any longer. However, the sad news actually turned into good news when the flag was flying again not much later. And it was still in French possession. (more)
Did you know that the 8-way drama of Round 1 had an unfortunate timing? posted: Aug 11th, 2008 The French 8-way team maintained the 5-point lead through Round 2. The US team made up the two points to Italy and is now tied in second place. Germany's EADS team is still working on the silver or bronze medal position after Round 1. EADS had 18 points on the scoreboard after the first attempt and did not receive the 19th scoring point due to weather conditions.
The German 8-way team had 20 points within working time after the rejump, but this score was downsized to 16 points, once again due to weather conditions. They are now going up again for another rejump of Round 1. The team has the 20-pointer... (more)
Did you know that Bodyflight Storm mastered trouble situations? posted: Aug 11th, 2008 Both 4-way events have completed four rounds, and both events are still as spicy as it could be hoped for. Airspeed Odyssey does not have as strong a position after four rounds any longer as it seemed earlier today. The US team has still completed the highest number of scoring formations within working time, but several points got lost due to infringements.
The mentioned 25-pointer in Round 3 was reduced to a 24-pointer. Two more points got lost in Round 4, and Airspeed ended up with 16 points, while four other top contenders posted 17-pointers, including the closest rival at the moment, Hayabusa... (more)
Did you know that Airspeed explains their meet procedures on NSL-TV? posted: Aug 11th, 2008 The Fun Flag was still gone at noon, but the 8-way sword only found a new location. It is now in the viewing area of the public hangar where everybody can adore it.
The 4-way Open Class competition seemed to turn into a more interesting situation when Hayabusa Defence won a point over Airspeed Odyssey in Round 2. However, the Belgian team had the highscore of the round only after Airspeed lost two points by penalties. The US team completed 34 points in time and ended up with 32 on the scoreboard.
Airspeed set everything completely straight again in Round 3. The 25-pointer was once again from... (more)
Did you know that the NSL News interview with Joey Jones fell apart? posted: Aug 11th, 2008 It is probably a good morning for the 4-way fans who have already discovered a few links on the scores for Round 1. More uploading was possible last night and the videos of the French i-Score DZ-TV and judging system provide at least a look at several top teams, including the top three: Airspeed Odyssey, Sky Panthers and France Maubeuge.
However, there are also sad news. The Fun Flag is not flying any longer on top of the bunjee crane. Somebody risked his or her life to get possession of the flag last night. It was wet and slippery, and it is surprising that it was possible at all to get up... (more)
