News Article Did you know that faster engineering won Round 10 for Airspeed Odyssey?
posted: Apr 10th, 2007 The NSL News has re-located back to the office in DeLand. It was a most exciting trip to Bedford in Great Britain, as the current NSL leaderboad still shows. The follow-up on the World Challenge 2007 will keep the NSL News still busy for a while and the NSL audience entertained. There are several videos of live interviews to come, which include Airspeed Odyssey, Team Fastrax, Hayabusa Defence and Team Elan. NSL-TV will also take the audience on a live tunnel tour at Bodyflight Bedford. Of course, competition videos will be a part of the follow-up, as well. The interviewed top competitors... (more)
News Article Did you know that Airspeed Odyssey had the edge in Round 10?
posted: Apr 8th, 2007 No jump-off in Bedford, sorry. However, it was a very dramatic finish at Bodyflight's World Challenge 2007. Team Fastrax had a flawless Round 9 and stole a point from Airspeed Odyssey, almost even two points. The 1-point difference (25 - 24) was the tie-breaker and a small Fastrax cushion for Round 10. The three contenders for the 3rd place did not even get close to Airspeed and Fastrax with their 21-pointers. However, XL secured the 3rd place with the two 21-pointers in Rounds 8 and 9 after a bad start of the day. The viewing area in the tunnel hangar was crowded for the showdown in Round... (more)
News Article Did you know that there are several reasons for the high scoring level?
posted: Apr 8th, 2007 It looks as if the two leaders are planning a showdown in a jump-off round. Round 8 did not bring any changes, Team Fastrax and Airspeed Odyssey are still tied in 1st place. The Sky Panthers lost two more points due to high-level flying, XL lost one point due to an infringement. Airspeed's Craig Girard mentioned earlier today that his team followed a different strategy for Sunday's five rounds: "We tried to make it as easy as possible for the judges yesterday. But we saw that none of the other teams really seem to care much about how it looks like in the judging room. Now we have been going... (more)
News Article Did you know that the Sky Panthers were too high in Round 5?
posted: Apr 7th, 2007 Another round has gone by, and XL is still holding the top position after five rounds. Team Fastrax and Airspeed Odyssey have both been waiting for the point where XL would show a sign of weakness, and it simply has not happened yet. Odyssey's team captain Craig Girard mentioned already a few times that he has a hard time to believe that he is in 3rd place with a 30+ average. The scoring level surely is impressive. Of course, the sequences of the first half of the meet have been on the faster side. Sunday's five rounds include only four Random Formations, while Saturday's five rounds had 11... (more)
News Article Did you know that Team Fastrax broke the XL winning streak in Round 3?
posted: Apr 7th, 2007 The XL rebellion could probably not last forever. The trained teams caught up, Airspeed Odyssey reduced the distance, and Team Fastrax caught up with XL. However, there was no sign of XL weakness, and the "home team" still shares the lead with Fastrax after three rounds. It might still be only a matter of time when Fastrax will take the lead alone. John Hart, Niklas Hemlin, Thomas Hughes and Doug Park had already the sole highscore for the round with the 32-pointer and were very close to the completion of the 33rd scoring point. (more)
News Article Did you know that the World Challenge 2007 is ready for the first round?
posted: Apr 7th, 2007 Bodyflight Bedford was a very busy place this morning. Fortunately, owner Paul Mayer has used all available space in the large building to accommodate the teams and competitors without any problems. NSL-TV will offer the valued audience a virtual video tour later on and present the impressive facilities. The teams gathered in the morning for a meet briefing in the spacy hangar where the meet management explained the rules for the competition. Each team would have a flying time of five minutes to apply the tunnel rules and get familiar with the tunnel air before the competition. (more)
