Did you know that the pickup teams consist of high-caliber 4-way competitors?
posted: Oct 25th, 2006 The other 8-way teams are line-ups that were recruited on competition site, the "pickup teams". One of these pickup teams will most likely end up with a set of silver medals. However, it would be no new situation for the team members of Golden Nuggets to get up on the podium at USPA Nationals. The team name already indicates that the members of the Golden Knights Black 4-way team are a world class foundation for this line-up. Did you know that Perris Fury members are leading three different 8-way line-ups in Eloy?
posted: Oct 25th, 2006 There are a few other 8-way teams that were not just put together on competition site. Christy Frikken, Perris Fury's Outside Center, explained to the NSL News that there are three trained 8-way teams from Perris. They have been a part of Fury's 2006 project. In fact, the Perris Fury members were not able to compete at some of the Southwest Skydiving League events since they took care of their player coach jobs with other 4-way teams, as well. Fury members recruited, organized and trained with these three 8-way teams. (more)

Did you know that many former world champions compete in the 8-way event?
posted: Oct 24th, 2006 The 8-way competition has started in Eloy. The field is naturally much smaller than it was in 4-way. The 8-way competition at the USPA Nationals is mostly a fun event where 4-way competitors usually form 8-way line-ups on site. There are obviously exceptions. Arizona Airspeed is a very well trained 8-way team, as the world knows. The 2006 season was an 8-way year for Airspeed since the team had to represent the USA at the World Meet 2006 in Germany. There was not much time for 4-way training in the Airspeed quarters this year, as the results of the 4-way competition show. (more)

Did you know that DeLand Groove did not let Black Cat get by?
posted: Oct 23rd, 2006 Even the Airspeed Odyssey members may not have expected it to be so easy to move from a hopeless position after the first day to a place on the podium. The second day of the USPA Nationals 2006 was a completely different ball game for Andy Delk, Brian Johnson, Craig Girard, Eliana Rodriguez and Will Pesek on camera. Odyssey picked up the pace, tied the total number of DeLand Groove's points on Monday and easily passed the Golden Knights on the way to the bronze medal position. Did you know that it is still an open gold medal game in the AA/Intermediate Class?
posted: Oct 23rd, 2006 The AA Class teams had their fastest round of the meet at the end of the first competition day. Round seven brought a sequence with four Random Formations to the table. Most of the teams used the great opportunity to improve the meet average significantly. Air Force CAD did not only improve the number of the meet average with the highscore of 26 points for this round. The Air Force team also climbed up one slot on the leaderboard. Skydive Chicago's Furies had the second place with a 1-point lead after seven rounds. (more)

Did you know that Airspeed Odyssey comes back with full power?
posted: Oct 23rd, 2006 There is an interesting little story related to teams at the bottom of the AAA/Open Class field. Elsinore Select and Kaktus Hunter are next to each other and currently tied with 86 points. Kaktus Hunter is the second guest team, and the team members are Russian competitors. One of the Kaktus Hunters is Anna Panasyuk who has also been a team member of the Russian national team in the female category, Ladybirds. Elsinore Select and the Ladybirds competed with and battled against each other throughout the whole competition at the World Meet 2006 in Germany in an exciting race for the bronze medals.... (more)
