Did you know that DeLand Majik posted a historic 10-round average at the Malevsky Cup 2002? posted: Aug 2nd, 2002 Russia has a history of hosting first-class international Formation Skydiving competitions that did not only begin with the FAI World Meet 2010 in Menzelinsk, now followed by the FAI Mondial Tanay 2020. The series of Malevsky Cup events began in 2002. FAI/IPC eventually recognized the Malevsky Cup as a "First Category Event", on the same level as world meets and world cups, as the NSL News reported on 4 March 2004.
The event, with the new official name "2004 Open European Championship and the IPC Anton Malevsky Memorial World Cup", was in its third year by then. The NSL News covered the inaugural... (more)
Did you know that you should "see the point, feel the tail and trust the outside center"? posted: Jul 18th, 2002 There are a lot of contemporary topics to cover, despite the worldwide break for Formation Skydiving competition, due to the corona virus crisis. SDC Rhythm XP's change in the lineup was the most recent breaking news, and the latest event update came from Europe, where the ESL Championship was finally canceled and rescheduled for 2021.
However, the NSL News will continue to fill in any news gaps with unpublished information from the past to present the history of Formation Skydiving competition since 1985 as completely as possible. This time, original Airspeed Vertical member Neal Houston is... (more)
Did you know that John Hoover explained the success of the Golden Knights and predicted the soccer world champion correctly? posted: Jun 14th, 2002 The NSL News continues with steps into the 4-way history and the archives with previously unpublished stories and information. Once again, the update from June 2002 relates to current events.
Interestingly, the conversation with Golden Knights team captain John Hoover in June 2002 was also recorded via the internet, just as many of the current NSL Live Talk sessions had to take place on the Zoom platform, due to the corona virus crisis. There was no similar crisis in 2002, and it was simply a different way how to connect quickly with John Hoover after an interesting meet of the Carolina Skydiving... (more)
Did you know that Norgies member Pal Kolbenstvedt explained the team's future? posted: May 3rd, 2002 The connection between the recent 8-way aftermath story of Veloce QRF at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship and the next NSL News interview from the unpublished archives is once again pure coincidence. The next visit in the NSL News office after Joey Jones' in February 2002 happened after a training camp of the DeLand Norgies in May 2002.
The three FAI medal winners of 2001 (Airspeed Vertical, France, DeLand Norgies) all decided to come back and compete for the next set of gold medals in 2003. The French and the Norwegian team did not have any qualification issues, while Airspeed Vertical... (more)
Did you know that 95% of skydiving is a mental challenge? posted: Feb 27th, 2002 The book "Mental Training For Skydiving And Life" by John J. DeRosalia has been available in the NSL Shop for many years. It is the only known expert literature about skydiving in book form, while there is an unlimited amount of unrelated scientific sport psychology literature that always requires "translation" into "skydiving leanguage".
John J. DeRosalia did this translation in his book that he published in 2001. The NSL News posted the interview with him on 27 February 2002.
"Skydiving helped John J. DeRosalia to fix his own life at a certain time in his life. Now he is helping to fix... (more)
Did you know that Joey Jones evaluated the results from Eloy? posted: Feb 1st, 2002 The NSL News takes a break from the recent coverage of the corona virus situation in many different ways. Several updates came from teams, competitors and officials in different parts of the skydiving world, and they will be continued very soon with a new update from the Czech Republic.
One of the most recent NSL Live Talk conversations came from the Coaches Corner on April 29th. Gary Smith and Joey Jones discussed the situation after the cancellation and rescheduling of the FAI Mondial Tanay 2020.
It was another coincidence that the next NSL News step back into the unpublished archives of... (more)
