News Article Did you know that the NSL website has finally transitioned into 2007?
posted: Feb 7th, 2007 The change of the year came with a delay for the NSL website. NSL webmaster Craig Buxton is a very busy person and has a full-time job at the SkyVenture headquarters in Austin, Texas. He manages the training of wind tunnel instructors all over the world, which is layed out at the company website, Tunnelflight.com. (more)
News Article Did you know that national teams will jump from Pilatus Porter in 2008?
posted: Feb 5th, 2007 The NSL News story on January 29 provided an update after the recent meeting of the International Parachuting Commission (IPC) in Florence, Italy. The dive pool for 4-way and 8-way Formation Skydiving competition remained unchanged, and some parts of the competition rules were updated. The IPC Delegates also approved several bids to host "First Category Events" in 2007 and 2008. The Malevsky Cup 2007 is scheduled for July 2 - 8 and includes only 4-way competition. The FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving 2007 will also be hosted by Russia. The location is the same as for the Malevsky Cup... (more)
News Article Did you know that the French 2010 plan includes three A-Teams and four B-Teams?
posted: Feb 1st, 2007 The NSL News story on January 16 provided an update from France. National coach Jerome Davide introduced the French Formation Skydiving competition line-ups of the next two years and also explained the plans until 2010. Four members of the current French 8-way world champions are the new national 4-way team, while the 8-way team continues with almost exactly the same line-up. The same NSL News story compared the situation at the next World Meet in 2008 with three previous attempts of US and French competitors to win gold medals in 4-way and 8-way at the same time. News Article Did you know that the dive pool remains unchanged in 2007?
posted: Jan 29th, 2007 The NSL News story on January 19, 2007, provided a preview of the International Parachuting Commission's (IPC) annual meeting in Florence, Italy. The article covered the topics on the agenda of the IPC Formation Skydiving Committee, which would be relevant for this year's 4-way and 8-way competitions. The meeting was concluded last weekend, and Fiona McEachern, Australian Chair of the FS Committee, distributed the results of the meeting instantly. News Article Did you know that Norwegian Valkyrie goddesses are live on a new NSL-TV interview?
posted: Jan 26th, 2007 Norway's national 4-way team Arcteryx was not the only visitor to Florida from the same Scandinavian country last week. Norway's national 4-way team in the female category was holding a training camp in DeLand at the same time, and the NSL News invited the team to the NSL office for another live interview. Norway Valkyrie consists of Anne Simone Botten (Point), Cathrine Lie Tunes (Tail), Kristin Opoien (Center Inside), Trude Sviggum (Center Outside) and Anne Sofie Boe on camera. It is exactly the same line-up that represented Norway at the World Meet 2006 in Germany. (more)
News Article Did you know that the Southwest Skydiving League splits into California and Arizona?
posted: Jan 25th, 2007 The Southwest Skydiving League has finalized its schedule for the 2007 season. Actually, the new schedule includes only the events at the two major hosts in California, Skydive Elsinore and Perris Valley Skydiving. The Southwest Skydiving League will be split up and turn into one league in California and the other one in Arizona. The travel distance between California (Perris/Elsinore) and Arizona (Eloy) is significantly longer compared to other leagues in the country and has been in the way for the SSL teams.
