Did you know that France Maubeuge dominates the female 4-way competition? posted: Aug 7th, 2007 The competition has moved on quickly today in Russia. The second day is over, and the meet is running perfectly on schedule. Six rounds have been completed in both 4-way events, and four rounds are in the 8-way books. It is time for the NSL News to catch up with the female category of the 4-way event.
There are no surprises so far. France dominates the competition, and the 15.8 average after six rounds would put the best all-female team in 12th position of the Open event. The question at the end of this competition will be how close the French team is currently compared to the British top teams.... (more)
Did you know that the draw doesn't send any messages across the water? posted: Aug 7th, 2007 Solly Williams followed up with more information from his coaching and observing corner in Stupino. He commented the viewings of Round 5 live in front of the DZ-TV screen and provided some other observations and thoughts. He currently suffers from a cold, and the NSL News is grateful for his continued efforts to bring the event closer to the NSL audience. (more)
Did you know that Airspeed's 20-point streak is out of reach for the teams in Russia? posted: Aug 7th, 2007 Russia (Sky Panthers) - France (Maubeuge) - Belgium (Hayabusa Defence), all tied with 87 points after four rounds, what a race. The Belgian team seems to have the strongest momentum at the moment. Hayabusa Defence was four points behind the Russian Sky Panthers after the first round and made up the deficit in the following three rounds with such a very strong comeback. Two sole highscores (Rounds 2 and 4) are now on the Belgian account. The Sky Panthers have the other two highscores for Rounds 1 and 3.

Did you know that Italy seems to benefit more than the Germans from the 8-way coaching situation? posted: Aug 7th, 2007 Round of the 8-way event at the FAI World Cup 2007 in Stupino, Russia, was still completed on Monday. The internet connection in Stupino was down again for a while, and it took a while until the scores became availale for the NSL News.
The two complete rounds in 8-way brought the first break for the 8-way teams already. The 4-way events were scheduled for Tuesday morning, and the scores for Rounds 3 and 4 have already been posted. The 8-way competition will continue later today.

Did you know that the 8-way competition is underway in Russia? posted: Aug 6th, 2007 The 8-way competition is now in full swing, as well. The artistic events are running at the same time. Unfortunately, Omniskore's Pegasus scoring system does not seem to be working very well. FAI Controller Dr. Rainer "Exi" Hoenle mentioned is his last update that the judges of the artistic events have gone back to paper and pencil. There has not been any transmission of artistic competition jumps on the local DZ-TV in Stupino so far, and the scores have not been posted yet.

Did you know that Hayabusa won Round 2 with smart engineering? posted: Aug 6th, 2007 Round 2 changed the whole picture in the Open Class competition already. It looks as if the competition in Stupino will be just as exciting as it could be expected. Belgium's new Hayabusa Defence line-up with Center Inside Luc Verstrepen was obviously not very happy with the first round and came back with force and finesse. The 27-pointer was the highscore for the round and moved the Belgium team up into the second position, tied with the Russian Sky Panthers and only one single point behind the new leader from France.
